good one, Cindy. *giggle*
The Minearverse 5: Closer to the Earth, Further from the Ax
[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls, The Inside and Drive), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.
Okay, first, thanks to Colin for the apology & to Cindy for the defense. Glad to know that, indeed, it wasn't meant personally. I appreciate that.
Next, as to the original issue, I want to assert that I don't intend to squelch anyone's Fox News mockery, and in fact, reserve the right to mock it myself. I don't think Fox News should have protected status. WRT brenda's point, you're right about the subset and I was the only one generalizing there. Riff away.
That said, I stand by the original comment, which Jesse rightly pointed out, was more about the implication that all Fox News viewers were stupid. They aren't. I do want to make sure the boards and this thread in particular stay accessible to all sorts of fans, but not at the cost of making people not post what they're thinking. I think in general we do a decent job.
Third, I was cranky last night. I probably shouldn't have posted at all, but, see above, re: cranky. Kevin's comment was intended as a joke, and I normally would have just read it as such, and it all would have been fine.
So, explanations done, let me just say I apologize. I'm sorry.
Lastly, jengod!!?! Sorry for kerfluffling in your delurk!
Questions for actors will follow.

You got delurk in my kerfuffle!
DiMK! DiMK!
Questions for jengod's interview:
For actors:
- Do you drive, yourself? What do you drive?
- What would you drive if you could (Aston Martin? Space shuttle? Zamboni?)
- How do the physical constraints of the show's premise (so much happening in the car) affect your craft; how do you effectively deliver your character via torso camera angles?
- Lay odds your character is going to a) win, b) engage in hot racer-on-racer action, c) die in a fiery crash. (Okay, maybe not this one, I don't want to know!)
Other: - Is the 1st unit jealous of the 2nd unit because they get to work with pretty, pretty locations, or is the 2nd unit jealous of the 1st unit because they get to work with pretty, pretty actors?
That said, I stand by the original comment, which Jesse rightly pointed out, was more about the implication that all Fox News viewers were stupid. They aren't.
That wasn't entirely my intention, though -- in fairness, I think if Fox News aired a commericial for a TV program and an actual report *I'd* have problems telling the difference. Things flying onto the screen, crazy graphics, horridly basis commentary are all staples of FOX News. And FOX trailers. That was where I was coming from. Now, personally I do believe FOX News viewers are statistically the most misinformed viewers on current events ( [link] ), but in relation to Drive, I really couldn't care.
If I offended anybody, I apologise as it wasn't the intention. The intention was to mock FOX News, which is something I'll never apologise for.
Anyone want to post first episode spoilers? You know you want to.
Bloody hell. I was reading through that article to find out if there was any mention of possible slanting due to network ownership, and discovered that Fametracker was started by someone I know.
Jaysus. The world is too small.
