Never fall in love with somebody you actually love.

Okay, I see your point.

In actual fairness, I don't mind those kind of phrases in the context of Firefly talk. 'cause, you know, people use Buffy phrases in Buffy context a lot. Firefly wasn't on the air long, so it didn't get that many phrases (and Jayne hats... oh lord... They need to shoot more episodes so people forget about them).

Around the time of SERENITY's release, I saw a lot of comments along the lines of the movie poster should have been something like 'It's the gorram shiniest ship in the 'verse'. Which didn't work for me.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Truth to tell, I'm not all that fond of the folksy talk even when used by the actor in question outside his role, and I think he's at least put in enough time using it that it's almost a picked-up regional accent instead of an affectation.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Er. Yeah, that doesn't work work for me. Of course, neither does "Prepare for the ultimate action adventure" on the DVD.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

use of frak or gorram...I have to shake my head and turn away.

I bet if the right guy used them you'd at least hesitate before turning away...

While it's being asked, msbelle, did you get a card from me either right before you left or when you got back?
