Angel: Connor, this is Spike and Illyria. Guys, this is Connor. Connor: Hi. umm...I like your outfit. Illyria: Your body warms. This one is lusting after me. Connor: Oh...no, I--I--it's just that it's the outfit. I guess I've had a thing for older women. Angel: They were supposed to fix that.

Spike's Bitches 30: Going on Thirteen

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

vw, that's great news about the loan!

Nora, that does stink. You do not suck, and it is very likely they said no for reasons that do not reflect on you. Here, the thing most likely to determine where your salary falls is equity among staff, rather than cost of living or anything reasonable like that. Because A makes X, B can only make X-Y.

Raq, ouch.

My meeting went okay. However, it generated two more meetings for me. Yucko.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

I'm so sorry, Nora -- I think it's fantastic that you got up the bravery to try, but it may very well be that they were more strictly limited in their salary range than you guessed; I doubt it was anything that reflects on you. Still, it sucks to get turned down.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Speaking from an HR perspective--they may not have that amount budgeted for salary or have a policy of starting at the low end of the range or whatever., none of it has to do with you All you can do with an offer like that is have the guts to ask, which you did, and getting turned down is not a reflection on you. Hell, they already offered you the job, right? That means they want you around.

Thanks... I think I'll just accept the offer as it stands. I screwed up in March (in my defense, it was an hour after a conference and a few hours before getting on a plane to London so I was a little more overwhelmed with stuff than usual) and need to deal with that.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Oh, Nora, I'm sorry. But, still:

What Robin Said.

I have minor work gripes right now, but they feel unseemly compared to yours -- just some stupid people begging to be pinched.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

My work gripes include tables that were quite possibly designed by the Devil himself. Because for some ungodly reason they refuse to start anywhere other than the top of a new page if they span multiple pages.
