Sooner or later, you're gonna want it. And the second — the second — that happens, you know I'll be there. I'll slip in, have myself a real good day.

Spike's Bitches 30: Going on Thirteen

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Although it's Lindsey/Connor that I find more compelling - Connor is like the physical incarnation of all Lindsey's Angel AND Darla issues. Hot, cute, powerful, screwed up all to hell and could totally break Lindsey into a million tiny pieces. And Lindsey's not much older than Cordelia, after all.

Good lord, I think Fay just broke me. I'm sure Christian Kane's voice in my headphones didn't help, either.

Morning, y'all!! Had to skip. Long weekend, involving a Mustang convertible, crazy-ass people, a cowboy hat, and getting to meet the incomparably beautiful Lilli-bean for the first time (AND getting to see her loverly parents and Pete). Also, whisky (once I got home). Hugs, hairpats, YAY!s, as appropriate.

Alsoalso, the Czech Republic is SPANKING the US football team. SPANKING.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

So, we've got another playoff game tonight. We're playing the only other undefeated team, The Rockies, which for maximum dramatic effect is the team composed of half my team from last year, and also the team that gave us our most painful loss (17 runs to come from behind in the last inning).

If we win, we go directly to the championships where we'd have to lose twice in a row to keep from winning the trophy. If we lose...we're back in the pack and have more games.

Playoff rules are different and I don't like it as much. We're basically riding Reed's coattails at this point, and it feels like much less of a team effort. Reed goes out and throws three unhittable innings and that's a huge advantage. And we've been seduced into letting him roam pretty far into the outfield from shortstop to make a lot of catches because - he's just that good. He's barely ten, but he could be playing for some JV teams.

Also in the playoffs you don't have to play everybody equally so our less-good players are playing less. They have to play some, but it's not the equal distribution of the regular season.

::sigh::

It's making the winning less fun.

Oh well, it's over after this week. Then Emmett's just playing with the Tournament team, which I think he actually enjoys better.

Pardon me as a dance the happy dance through the thread!

My alternative student loan (which will pay for me living by myself in my very own apartment next year) has been conditionally approved! They just have to verify dad's employment and my school registration, and it looks like we're good to go!

I'm so excited!

Shit's all sorts of different now.

So, I had that kickass meeting on the first. They said they would get back to me in about a week to a week in a half. It's been eleven days. I just called to check on things and the gentleman I had the meeting with wasn't available to speak to me. I'm trying to be positive about it, but failing miserably.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

My negotiation for a higher salary was unsucessful. God, why do I suck so much at this?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I'm having a Bad Day.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Oh, that sucks, Nora. That does NOT mean that you suck though. It's just one of those (bad and sucky)things.

Are you going to take the job anyway?

Nora, that totally happened to me with my job I got when I first moved to Boston. I wanted the job so badly, though, that I took it anyway, which worked out ok.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Crap, Nora. That sucks.

VW, all right!

Kristin, you just got done with grading? *boggles* When do schools in LA get DONE? My last day was 5/30.

Summers as a kid...my mom worked, so the lady upstairs watched us. She was a nurse and worked night shift, and he daughter was out age, so we palled around. We spent all day at the pool, listening to "Electric Avenue" and smelling Hawaiian Tropic tanning oil, riding our ten-speeds up and down Kmart Hill, climbing trees and walking from tree to tree on the upper branches, and hanging out in the woods behind the apartment complex and playing war.

When it got hot, or we got hungry, we'd go back inside the AC with our damp swimsuits, eat toast with spaghetti sauce on it, and watch "The Reflex" video about a million times on MTV.

Then mom and dad would come home at about 4:30, and we would come in from the pool and eat dinnner while we watched old Star Trek reruns at 6.
