I read about folks toughing it out with gallons of water and cranberry juice, and all, but... I can't. I've tried. Now I know that once I am doubled over in pain, it's to the doctor's I go. I don't like having anti-b's but I'm pretty sure I would like a kidney infection a whole lot less.

Our kindergarten mother e-mail list has been full of, "I signed Johnny up for this," sorts of messages.

We're a one-car family right now, and the dh's job has transferred to a place not accessible by public transit (the 2nd car died the week he was transferred and would cost more to fix than it's worth). I have signed my kids up for nothing, and I don't even care.

Maybe it's just me, but I remember the summers of my childhood as this magical time when I could just go do nothing (cf Christopher Robin), and I actually think I'm giving my kids something by giving them a season of nothing.
