Spike's Bitches 30: Going on Thirteen
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
I know everyone is off F2Fing, but for those of us who are feeling down because we didn't get to go, let me lift your spirits with pictures of a really cute baby eating cake .
The birthday party went well. Our house is filled with boxes at the moment and the movers come on Monday to take it all away. We will be living on frozen pizza and air mattresses until the 31st when we fly away. Sorry I haven't been around much, but as you can see, life has been just short of way-too-busy. Hope everyone is loving SF!
Stephanie, Ellie is so, so beautiful! Her actual birthday is in early June, right?
I love pictures of cakey children on their first birthday. I checked out the whole set for her birthday, and I think my favorites are what seems to be the pre-bath photos. In the first one, her expression is just so, "Um? Having a bath here. Privacy, please?" In the second she just looks like, "I can't believe the papparazi."
In the second she just looks like, "I can't believe the papparazi."
That's exactly it. There were, I think, three people taking pictures of her taking bath. She took it all pretty well.
eta: Her birthday is June 4th. We celebrated yesterday because next weekend is a holiday and the weekend after that, we will be in a hotel in PR.
Ellie is such a cutie! Have fun storming the castle moving. PR. I hope you find it as tropically delicious a place to live as it is in my imagination.

How long will you have to stay in a hotel? Is it near the beach? I'm excited for you. I hope the move goes smoothly and you enjoy your new home.
edited to add: Of course Ellie is of Teh Cute!
How long will you have to stay in a hotel?
It depends on how long it takes to get into our house but probably no more than 10 days. However, it's probably not a hotel like you are thinking. There is supposed to be a resort we could stay at but it is a significant distance from Ft. Buchanan. There's a Motel 6 type hotel on the base that is close to everything and my guess is that is where we will be. Joe said if the hotel on post if awful and we will be there more than a day or so, we can move to the nicer, farther one. We have competing interests right now. I don't want to be stuck in a room with a baby for several days, but he can get everything done much faster is we stay closer to the base.
Eating cake is serious work!
Yeah, I went to bed. But, now, I am awake.
WS, I...ummm...hope the cat sweater thing works out...?
Robin, how was the movie?
Hooray for teh good shopping!
Stephanie, I daresay it would be easier for you, too, to be close to the PX, etc (at least until you get to know your way around), as well as easier for Joe to get to work. I hope the room has a kitchenette or at least a fridge/microwave combo for you to make it a little easier with a toddler. Good luck.
Christopher's off to the grocery with Owen and Liv's asleep. I'm going to look up times to go see The DaVinci Code sometime this afternoon.

Ded. So cute!
We went to my great-uncle's 90th birthday yesterday. Teacup Guy met a ton more relatives of mine, and everyone just loved him. He kept getting cornered by different relatives asking him questions, and I kept getting cornered by people telling me how handsome he is, how sweet he is, and how happy I seem to be. It was really great, and a nice change not having to deal with all of the crazy relatives by myself. My uncle is the sweetest man, and he was so choked up to have so many relatives in one place. It was a great day, and I am feeling sort of glad I missed the F2F, because I can always go to an F2F next year, but this was a one time opportunity.
Ka-Gronk. I have coffees. I wish I could've slept longer but my body said basta and now I'm face first into a tiki mug of latte.
Emmett's team won their game yesterday. I arrived several innings in because I was lunching with Scola and Cass. As I got there Emmett was starting the 3rd. "How're we doing," I asked, Chris. "We're down 3-2. Emmett pitched us out of a jam in the second, coming in with two men on and one out and striking out the next two batters." Eliott nodded, "Emmett was HUGE."
Close fought game, where we got all the way to 6-2 down. Then came back and tied it on a big inning, topped with Eian's second massive home run of the season. We pushed across one extra run in the last, and then held on to beat them. Reed got pissed by a call in the field and starting pumping fastballs by them. Pure vapor trails. 7-6 win and well-played. Joaquin made a running, shoe-top save in the left-field. Outfield executed a perfect cut-off to keep their best player from scoring.
Very gratifying to see all the players hitting and actually doing what we've been coaching them to do all year.
Prom was so fun last night. Everybody was having a blast.
We toasted Deb's hard work and JZ gave her a little blue book about roses written and signed by Peter Straub.
