Spike's Bitches 30: Going on Thirteen

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

I wear high heels only for special occasions for that very reason, Jilli.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

high heels hurt to walk in for more than 15 minutes for everyone

If you are a wuss, then I am one, too. I have a hard time finding comfortable heels.

I have a hard time finding shoes that fit period. Weird feet.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

do high heels hurt to walk in for more than 15 minutes for everyone

I can manage up to a 3" heel for several hours, including lots of walking, provided the heel is sturdy and the shoe itself has good insole support. juliana gave me a pair of boots with very thick, chunky 3" heels, and they're so beautifully made that I don't notice the heel at all until the end of the day when I take them off and suddenly everything around me is huge.

3" skinny heels or strappy sandallike shoes with no arch support, nope. 3 1/2" heels - ten minutes does me in, no matter how well-made and gentle the shoe is. I boggle at people like deb and Erin, who can wear high high spiky heels and move and be comfortable in them. It's magical.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

At the shoe store today, I decided that two-inch heels were too high. I've never had heels that weren't agony, and I've pretty much given them up altogether. Today's purchase [link] is about as spiffy as I go these days. I'm so boring.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I can do high, but I can't do spiky at all. Also, a lot of your clunkier-type shoes have a thick sole, so that the hell isn't actually as high as it looks.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I'm 4'10". I can't wear heels higher than about 2".

Woe to the fucking wicked.

I am 5-3, but I never wear heels. I kinda think I should start, though. If for no other reason than, from time to time, I'd like to be taller than my students.

This is one reason I think I might like teaching the 5th and 6th graders this summer, rather than the 7th-10th graders I taught last summer. I'll be taller than more than two of them.

All depends on the heel (and how much is stacked in front), but I've definitely got 2-3" heels that I don't even notice are heels while I'm wearing them. I've got others that are less comfortable (but oh so cute), though only some of them are due to the heel--some are due to other bits of the shoe.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I can't walk in anything that is even a little bit a heel because of my braces, so I am stuck being my height.

This statement doesn't even parse in my 2-stepstools, plus a long-handled grabby thing in the kitchen world.

I totally need a long-handled grabby thing, because I can't really be trusted on stepstools and such. Where do you get one?
