Spike's Bitches 30: Going on Thirteen

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Bummer, bt. Got a boring book you could use as a sleep inducer?

vw, I think Cindy has some valid points to consider. But, good on you for walking out. There are definitely times when actions speak louder than words. Enjoy your mimosas, you deserve them!

I'm almost out of my Trader Joe's coffee. I am bummed, since we don't have a Trader Joe here yet.

What is even happening?

Like any situation, sometimes you have to walk out, or you'll erupt.

I want a mimosa. I also want something cheesy-hammy-eggy. I have neither. I'm biding my time 'til it's time start the spafriggingghetti which everyone will eat, although not what I'm in the mood for.

It's long and complicated, but has to do with a woman giving her testimony about how she was cured from "lesbianism."

Proud of you VW. Walking out is awesome. But don't just give up! Let them know that you were offended!

Glad Pete pointed out to Fay that 40 pounds is more like $70! Should be able to get a good haircut for that, I would think.

I am in San Antonio. I very nearly did not make it to San Antonio--I got to the airport about 40 minutes before my flight, and had to wait for the bus from the parking facility, etc, etc....and then walked in to find the place PACKED at 7AM on a Sunday! WTF?? But the woman directing people into line at the checkin counter, when I said "Oh, crap, I'm never going to make my flight", whisked me to the front and checked me in, then the people at the security line whisked me to the front, I booked it through the airport, and just made it. WHEW. Believe me, I shall be very careful to be on time to the airport for a while--I'm usually very good about it (unlike some of my colleagues) but I think i've used up all my luck now!

So here I am, and I'm thinking to go find some food (I've had a banana and a scone today) and maybe go see "Stick It". Heh.

Also, I have next-to-no voice today. Working here ought to be fun tomorrow....oh, and my computer is threatening revolt.

meara, d you mind all the travelling you do? Sometimes, I'm envious when I read about your trips, but other times, I read about them, and think I need to get my blanket and lie down on the couch for a while. I'm glad you caught a break at the airport.

I'm getting the pig!

I had yummy mojitos last night and today I actually remembered to click on the buffista link before buying something through Amazon. Yay.

I'm proud of you for leaving today, vw. You'll come to a decision on where to go from here, I have no doubts about that.

I'm almost out of my Trader Joe's coffee. I am bummed, since we don't have a Trader Joe here yet.

You can get more in less than three weeks in SF!

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

...I should point out that LESS than $70 would be good. Very good. The smaller the bill, the better. What with me normally paying from zero pence to four pounds sterling for a haircut.

However, looks like a haircut is do-able. I'll see how out of control it's got by the F2F - may opt for trying a salon in the Hilton or the Marriot or somewhere, if it's too badly in need of a cut. But getting it done in San Francisco, baby!!! would be cool.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Good on you, vw! I actually went to church this morning, due to mom being in town. We went to the COOLEST church--All Saints in Pasadena. You may have heard of it--it's the church the IRS is investigating because of an anti-war sermon. A gorgeous building with Tiffany windows and a tremendously inclusive and activist bent. The female minister gave a sermon about the divisions the Episcopal church is facing over the ordination of gays and compared it to the same divison it went through in the 70s over the ordination of women. She quoted a scholar (don't remember who) that a chiurch can either be ABOUT Christ or OF Christ--either frozen in place and turning inward to fixate on it's own rules or living as a community actively trying to embody Christ's teachings, trying to fight pain and poverty and spread joy. Seems to me you want a church which is the latter.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

Sometimes, even if you go back, walking out is a good way to espress anger - so when you go back to talk about it, people al ready know that you are mad, so you can speak from the rational part of the brain. ( and while I agree with Cindy, that sex should not be a church focus, in some chuches , it becames the focus- which means the church has gone astray) My shoulders and neck are still sore. All we canfigure out is that it was the tiny short bicycle ride yesterday. whic means it is time to pull out the hand weights and strenghten my shoulders again.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I grew up just a couple of miles from All Saints, Robin. Love that church, though I've never been inside.
