'Touched'

Spike's Bitches 30: Going on Thirteen

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Also, I've been sleeping, but still am constantly so tired I want to punch people in the face.

God, this is SO me.

I should add that yesterday morning was The Boy's grandma's funeral, so he was -- quite understandably -- in need of TLC more than he normally would. He's not a high-maintenance needy drama queen.

It's not a perfect solution, but it's the only workable one.

At least until he hires a cleaning person. (What? I'm thinking of hiring one for once a month deep-cleaning.)

Um. Did you ever see the Queer Eye episode with the guy who had OCD whose apartment was completely PACKED with crap?

The Boy's house is not quite that bad -- some rooms are debris-free (other than pet hair) -- but some rooms are unfuckingbelievable. A cleaning person would have a heart attack.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Tep, I wish you a better day tomorrow.

Meanwhile I'm sort of sad about my parents having gone home; and I've had a splitting headache for hours; and I bought the most expensive purchase of my life thus far (excluding airline tickets), namely an iPod with vid capacity, but I'm too tired and achey to get with the whole 'woohoo! new toy!' response, (even though it has a lovely pink sock to be cosy in, and I'm considering calling it Rodney. Or possibly Sweet. Or maybe Cecilia. Or something else that hasn't occurred to me yet, but will do soon); and my loo won't flush; and the water pressure in the tap is dodgy as hell again, damn it; and my flatmates' fish somehow contrived to flood the living room last night for esoteric and Piscean reasons known only to themselves; and I'm Queen of the Menstrual People; and did I mention the bit about my head aching?

Also we've had 3 terrorist attacks in the past week, which is not very happy making. I went and watched V for Vendetta and thought it was fab, and would like to comment, except for the part where my head hurts, and the whole threat of terrorism thing is feeling very close to home.

Um.

God, I could really use a hug right now. In lieu of that, I'm going to eat a chocolate-covered, almond-stuffed date, and then order something comforting for dinner.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

God, I could really use a hug right now.

How about a foot and/or shoulder rub in a month? I can do that.

In lieu of that, I'm going to eat a chocolate-covered, almond-stuffed date, and then order something comforting for dinner.

Tasty treats and pleasures for Fay!

A shoulder rub in a month would be fantastic, Hec. And just wait until you see my new handbag. I feel confident that you will approve. I'll say no more, but you will know it when you see it.

eta

....and I've just been stymied in my attempt to order chicken soup and chilli fries and salad from Chillis, because apparently it will take them an hour to deliver. Bastards. Fine. See if I care.

pouts

They do nice soup.

pouts some more.

Also, my laptop's disk drive doesn't seem to recognise CDs anymore, and it's rejecting my ipod software disk. Damn it.

Yes, I know that most of my woes are very First World here, and my pearl-encrusted shoes aren't really too tight.

could still use a hug, though. will go and watch the pirate version of 'Howl's Moving Castle' I bought yesterday, and see if the cat feels like being snuggly.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

{{{FaY}}}

Nice to see you and I am jealous of your vid ipod

....I feel I should qualify that the pirate version of Howl's Moving Castle doesn't actually feature pirates, as such. I'm assuming. Just big Arabic subtitles.

Fay, I would snuggle with you. I could so VERY use a real hug, which is why the bracket-y version would make me lose my shit totally. They're no substitute and would only serve to make me more cross.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

*(The ADD ---> neglecting stuff is NOT me making excuses for him, and he doesn't use it as an excuse, in the sense of "Oh well, nothing I can do about it; that's just the way I am." He's very aware of it, and -- I don't know enough about ADD, but it's a brain chemistry thing just like depression, and it's a real issue, not just a handy excuse for laziness.)

The big thing with ADD is the short term memory sucks. Most normal people can keep 5-6 tasks in mind. Most ADD folks are lucky if they can keep 2 in mind. Anytime you ask them to do something, give them 1-2 steps, then when they're done, give them 1-2 more. It helps keep them on task, it's not nagging and stuff gets done. Unfortunately for the folks that live alone, there's no one to keep them on task and things just fall by the wayside because they're trying to do too much at once. My daughter's therapist recommended breaking the day into 15 minutes increments and listing each thing that needed to be done in a block. Then, adjusting how many blocks of time she may need for any particular task once she'd run through it a couple of times. As long as she stuck to it, it worked pretty well for her, she got a lot more done on a daily basis.

Yeah, but it does feature Christian Bale's voice as the most petulent glam rock gothboy wizard who cries over his bad hair coloring and wears fabulous earrings.
