Why does doing something nice for myself have to suck?

So that you'd feel entitled for doing some more nice things for yourself?

Sorry it has to be so annoying. Will they arrive later, when you're out of work, on the time you agreed upon?

the Passover/Easter overlap guarantees it.

Yay!

sara, good luck with the a/c.

Hey, Nilly! Yes, the last day of school was yesterday! Very exciting.

The Bible as Lit course -- we studied the Bible os a work of literature, not as a sacred text, per se. We looked at it specifically as a collection of tales, and laws and examined it from a literary, sociological and historical POV. The prof was a very nice Jewish lady, but she made it very clear that we were NOT debating religion in this course -- we were looking at the Bible as a book, not THE Book. It was really interesting, and an excellent class.

It doesn't suck. Delivery sucks. It's kind of a rule. Sorry bout that.

What sarameg said, Tom. Driving people crazy by showing up at the wrong time or place or not showing up at all is part of the deliveryperson's code.

I am in full gronk mode today despite my attempts to get more sleep lately.

It looks really interesting. Did you focus on any period or character or anything like that? I mean, it has a span of thousands of years inside.

Timelies everyone!

So I'm getting together with friends this weekend, and someone had suggested that we all come up with Buffy-themed drinks and bring the recipe and ingredients along.

I figured I'd cheat and ask the hivemind.

So, any suggestions?

P.S. In advance, you all are awesome. Dare I say.... legendary.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

The Gift. Um. Some sorta' dark-red booze/mixer. With Gumi-worms floating in it....

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I got word this week that Amazon has shipped my order of Venture Brothers and Robot Chicken. Isn't that nice of them?

Heh - you should make sure to check out the commentary tracks on Robot Chicken. There's one for every ep, lot's of the guest voices turn up multiple times (SMG & Mila Kunis for example), and I swear (a very chatty) Seth is on every single one of them, often claiming to be drinking. There's also a bunch of clips in the extras of Seth acting out stuff to show the animators what he wants.

tommyrot, this makes me want to make little Gift-themed cupcakes with little headstones.

I had thought of concocting something called Vague Disclaimer, but I'm not familiar enough with the subtleties of alcohol mixing to figure out how to make it "nobody's friend," yet still appealing.

Nilly, this was in summer of 1995. IIRC, we talked about the different sections of the Bible, Old and New -- the Tanakh (sp?) and a bunch of authors with letters after their names.

Wee talked about women in the OT. I remember having to give a presentation on the Onan story -- that was insteresting.

We talked about midrash.

Um....the focus was largely on the OT, but we looked at Saul/Paul quite a bit, too, and the elements of Jesus' life and death.

Oh, and we had a lot of fun theorizing on the author of Revelations.

And, oh, we checked out some of the Apochrypha, and talked about reason why certain thing were eligible for inclusion and not others.

Erin, I'm sorry, I have to run out. I'd love to talk about this subject with you some other time, though, OK?

Oh, and before running out - IIRC, tomorrow, the 1st of June, will be Jon B and FAQwife's anniversary, right?

And now, as promised - running out. Have good rest-of-the-week-s and great weekends, everybody!
