Shit's all sorts of different now.

Here I am, sitting in the middle of Downtown LA and I can't hear a peep from the protest.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

ION, Why we haven't met any aliens

A radical explanation for a conundrum about extra-terrestrial life, and what it means for the future of humanity

No mention of "The aliens think Loyalty Day is stupid" or "The aliens are afraid of psychic parrots."

I wish I could just go somewhere to get flensed but none of the whaling ships near me take Medicare.

Well, if the holiday was orginally created to oppose May Day (a Communist holiday) so maybe it was mainly "Americanism" as the opposite of "naughty communism.

Precisely. This country has never wanted to join the rest of the world in celebrating May 1 as International Workers Day. So they've renamed it as well as creating a different Labor Day celebration later in the year.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

No mention of "The aliens think Loyalty Day is stupid" or "The aliens are afraid of psychic parrots."

Or of armed killer dolphins or marauding killer chimps.

But he does mention Serenity. So it's all good.

Does this mean Lori might get a money shoutout? Or does she have to move to Canada first?

It means that she can go to her congressperson and say, "Where's my coin, dammit!?!

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Reminds me of TAL. "The American Space Shuttle with its Canadian Arm."

Oh! Possibly cereal. It's also, I had forgotten, Law Day. That Eisenhower was busy. [link]

Is there a Chocolate Day? There totally should be.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…
