Do you know what triggered the store people to doublecheck?
"Unusual activity," apparently. Lord knows what that means -- the $800 in stuff? The fact that they were delivering to an address that's never been attached to my name? Es mysterioso.

I've been called once about unusual activity that was actually me. Not sure what the activity was, though. That's lost in the mists of time.
The time someone did jack my identity, I was the one who found out (because Friday night my checking account was empty), and even after I presented the cops with their delivery address, they didn't care.
I did get the money back, at least.
ChiKat, did you ever figure out how she got your info?
Not yet, the detectives are still investigating. My purse was stolen about 3 years ago and they think it may stem from that.

It was unusual activity for me, too. She didn't have my Nordie's card, but had the cashier pull it up using her/my driver's license and my SS#. The cashier saw that I had NO activity on my card, and now here "I" was trying to buy 2 watches for over $3400. The cashier alerted the store's fraud dept. who called me at home and that set the ball rolling.
To bring this full circle, the cops found a business card in the chick's purse with my SS# written on the back of it. The business card was from someone who worked at Neiman Marcus.
d they may need me to appear at the hearing, but don't know yet.
probably waiting to see if she pleads guilty. Otherwise you have to show up and say "yes, I am me and I have been me for ___ years"

ooooooh! Maybe you can work this into free stuff!

Creepy! I do totally think it's all employees in a crime ring.

Actually, with all the evidence they have on her, they're waiting to see if it even goes to trial. They suspect there will be some sort of plea and no trial.
Otherwise, yep. I'm me, she's not. I've always been me, she never has. I have never met her so there is no way I could have given her my information. She stole it. She's a thief.
I have never seen the word certificated before. Huh.
Thank goodness for small favors, eh?
Jesse, I'm so sorry it was i.d. theft. I was hoping for something more stupid. I'm glad she was bagged, though. Did you put an alert in with the credit reporting agencies?
Yep, I called all three, even though they all said they'd let the other ones know. I'm considering doing the seven year alert thingy, since this is the second time someone not-me has charged stuff to me.
Lego Mindstorms to go open source.
Okay--if you could make these talk to your Roomba...oh, imagine the cat-chasing possibilities!
