Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Will a bite guard help with the clenching thing or will I just be clenching on something different?

Because fuck the stressful way, I'll happily take the easy out. My body is obviously stupid and will hurt itself. It no longer deserves to have control of the vehicle.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I was thinking the bite guard would help prevent the clenching but now that i think about it, it might be for grinding. My dad wears his whenever his jaw starts hurting (awake or asleep, well, always when he sleeps, I suppose) and now I can't remember which problem he has. Do you have a dentist in Portland? Maybe find one that treats the clenchiness.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I've self-prescribed a bite guard when I was grinding, and it seemed to help. It seems like it couldn't hurt to get a cheapo drugstore mouthguard and see what happens.

I don't have a dentist here. Or back in San Diego actually. I am crap when it comes to dental maintenance. I had one several years ago but he seemed to have moved or something.

I know bite guards help with grinding and it can't hurt to get one at RiteAid and see if it helps. The new and different texture might be enough to remind me try and relax my jaw. Also some squishy might stop the tightness. It's certainly worth a try.

eta: Oddly, talking (typing?) about this has helped. I think I keep checking to see if my jaw is relaxed.

And there is a program about the zero on later. My tv can watch it and I will check it out later.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

Interesting day.

The only thing I can add is that my sisters and I were in SF and looked at a book that had pictures of animals having sex. there were turtles. and giraffes. and rhinos.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

I had occasion at my work picnic today to mention the mating habits of the Indian rhino. 'Twas a good picnic.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Whoa. I only thought I was getting good steak at places like Outback and Lone Star. Today I ate at a Brazillian churrascaria, and the sirloin was just amazing. The only beef I've had to compare was a $40 filet at La Tourelle a few years back. (Unless bison counts as beef - then I've had a couple other steaks at exotic restaurants that were as good.)

I did not need to make this discovery while I'm trying to save money for the SF trip.

I'm realizing that I've never given notice at a real job. I don't know how it's done!

Trust my rage

Picanha (I forget the name in English) is truly the best beef I've ever had. (It's the one that's round and there are usually 3 stakes on a skewer.) When we lived in Brazil, we used to go to a churrascaria about once a week simply because the food was so good (and cheap). There's a decent churrascaria in Durham and Joe and I are hoping to go there one more time before we leave (maybe with flea and mr. flea).

"The fact that we live at the bottom of a deep gravity well, on the surface of a gas covered planet going around a nuclear fireball 90 million miles away and think this to be normal is obviously some indication of how skewed our perspective tends to be."

Today I ate at a Brazillian churrascaria, and the sirloin was just amazing.

hip deep in pie

I don't think this is the jaw or bite so much as just stressing and clenching the jaw. The clench is just a symptom that then leads to worsening. I try to put my tongue inbetween my teeth so I don't shut them but then I forget. And clench.

Cass, I totally have this problem, and I got a bite guard that is designed to prevent you from clenching your jaw and it works well. My bite is only slightly off, but the clenching can actually alter your bite. My dentist was skeptical that it would help my headaches (it only apparently helps in a relatively low percentage of tension headaches), but it does. When I feel a headache coming on from jaw tension, I'll put my bite plate in and lie down for an hour or so, and it wards them off or alleviates a lot of the pain.
