Spike? It's you. It's really you! My therapist thought I was holding on to false hope, but…I knew you'd come back. You're like…you're like Gandalf the White, resurrected from the pit of the Balrog, more beautiful than ever. Oh…he's alive Frodo. He's alive.

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

One of my all-time favorite books, The Circus of Dr. Lao by Charles Finney has been remaindered and you can pick it up for less than $2.

!

...Oh. $2 for a used copy from their "marketplace sellers." Or was it $2 at Amazon and I missed it? That would be tragic.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Didja nae click da link? All is explained behind the link.

(What the link explains: not a tragedy.)

But it does seem to have been remaindered so if you do have a bookstore that specializes in remaindered books (and don't we all), you should be able to find it on that particular Failed-Publishing-Venture table.

It's still a great book! Also, this edition has cool illustrations.

I did click the link, which is why I was confused. And am even more so, now. It's $9.97. Or it is for me. ...Is this one of those things where they're offering people different prices? That would explain the mutual bewilderment.

It's still a great book!
Oh, I know & agree. I read it a couple of times, but I don't own a copy and should. I think it's on my wish list, which is why I'm wondering if Amazon is trying to mess with me. Grr.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Dang, once again not on the list. I KNEW it would affect my chances if I didn't actually, you know, finish anything this year!

If I only had a brain...

I have the Crusie/dude book. I am having a hard time reading fiction at the moment, so factor that in. It has all the patented Crusie snark, but I'm not finding myself caring about the characters as much as I usually do. YMMV.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Just finished A Million Little Pieces this morning before I came to work. Despite the controversy, it was a fabulous book. I really liked his style of telling "his story".
