I just finished Daggerbound. I’m torn between a happy sigh and a squee.
Gunn: The final score can't be rigged. I don't care how many players you grease, that last shot always comes up a question mark. But here's the thing. You never know when you're taking it. I would agree that you don't have to have read the Clocktaur War books to enjoy Daggerbound, but I'm glad I reread them. Learned Edmund actually grew a lot in those books, so it was good to see where he came from as well as where he ended up.
I must say, Daggerbound really spoke to me. I sooooo sympathized with him at the beginning. Before I retired I also was so tired of fighting people who would only change with a brick to the head. Sometimes you just have to quit and move on.

I decided I owed Liz Shipton a read after following her on Insta for the funny typing videos, and Mother and Slaughter is on KU and is actually quite fun! The satire is extremely broad and over the top, but it's not pretending to be anything else so I was happy to go along for the ride. The ending is VERY on the nose and I did roll my eyes, but not enough to make me regret reading it.
(Her MM hockey series is also pretty good, in spite of the GODAWFUL titles and covers. If I hadn't realized Hailey Reaves was her pen name I would never have picked them up.)

Ooh, I had no idea! 11 weeks wait at the library. I do not have free time coming up, though, so maybe that’s for the best.
