Ave atque vale. P.D. James [link] I'd say rest in peace, but she certainly never rested while alive. She supported her family, wrote while working full time and had a life of public service that would be notable even without the gift of her writing. I didn't like all of her books, but her craft was undeniable.

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.
There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."
I just ran across this story by Ruthanna Emrys which is a very interesting tale in the setting of Lovecraft's Chthulhu Mythos with an approach I've not encountered before. [link]
I was quite a big fan for a while, Ginger.(have sort of lost touch with her work in recent years)
One of today's BookBub offerings is an omnibus of the first three Lord Peter Wimsey novels for $1.99. I have the first two, but these editions look a little cleaner, plus the third one isn't in public domain yet.
I don't know if we have any other A Song of Ice and Fire readers around, but I just started a re-read group on FB (I'm 76 pages in, and am about to take a break and read Dunk & Egg so Sean and Hil can catch up). If you're interested in playing (or just watching), let me know, or ask to be added to "Foreshadowing, Ho! (A Song of Ice and Fire re-read)"
Hey! Can I get book recs for someone (me!) who loved Wolf Hall, and its sequel, and really wishes the 3rd book was out so I could read it this weekend?
Dorothy Dunnett? Just as dense, and well characterized, but the prose style is very different.
I will check her out!
I haven't read any Hillary Mantel, but she does have a new book of short stories out.
The Book Smugglers invited to join Smugglivus this year, so behold, my Best Reads of 2014.
If I had finished The Martian in time, it would be on that list because holy shit.
