Tara: What's so bad about them coming here? Aren't they good guys? I mean, Watchers, that's just like whole other Gileses, right? Buffy: Yes! They're scary and horrible!

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

The Book Smugglers invited to join Smugglivus this year, so behold, my Best Reads of 2014.

If I had finished The Martian in time, it would be on that list because holy shit.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

What is Smugglivus?

I really enjoyed The Martian. It reminded me of Apollo 13, and also Jurassic Park, because it was so obviously meant to be a movie. I bought a copy for my brother, and will get another for my Dad.

Why, I'm glad you asked!

Yep! That's the same vibe I get as well. I think he even references it.

It's going to make a hell of a movie.

Thrive to spite them

Any recommendations for fantasy book for a 1st grader. These would be something he could read by himself. It's for my nephew and right now his dad is reading him Harry Potter which he loves. But I'm looking for something he could read on his own.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

The Magic Tree House series is good for that age if he's into fantasy. And there are a BILLION of them.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Have you checked out the Dragonbreath searies? [link] These are maybe more for 3rd graders, but I guess kids can vary. And if nothing else it's a thought for two years from now.
