Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Ahahahahaha! Tim's reaction to the fact that I *paid* for Twilight fanfic was hilarious. It involved the word "Sucker!" for one thing.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

For those who don't know if they should read 50 Shades of Grey, a flowchart.

I have never heard of this book. But the flowchart tells me I don't need to read it.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I have never heard of this book

I really want to launch into a diatribe about it, but it's kind of pointless. (And the diatribe actually doesn't have anything to do with it being Twilight fanfic.)

Because books.

Tim's reaction to the fact that I *paid* for Twilight fanfic was hilarious.

See, that's what confuses me. Because if no one had pointed out that it was *Twilight* fanfic, I never would have known. Lots of romcoms and romances feature a clumsy heroine (or one with some other *endearing* trait that's supposed to make her human and not! a Mary Sue). And since Bella and Edward don't even have sex until the fourth book, it never would have occurred to me even given the dynamics in Grey.

But I'm not hugely into AUs -- if they veer too far from the original text, they feel like a convenient way to simply let readers know who the characters are supposed to look like.

Puh! You only LINKED to something about it, and, as we all know, one must not click on your links.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I am not interested in reading 50 Shades of Grey, but I am interested in reading a Steph L. diatribe about it. FWTW.

There was a discussion about it in Natter this week, what do you mean?

Ah, in that case, yes, I skipped all that.
