Tim's reaction to the fact that I *paid* for Twilight fanfic was hilarious.
See, that's what confuses me. Because if no one had pointed out that it was *Twilight* fanfic, I never would have known. Lots of romcoms and romances feature a clumsy heroine (or one with some other *endearing* trait that's supposed to make her human and not! a Mary Sue). And since Bella and Edward don't even have sex until the fourth book, it never would have occurred to me even given the dynamics in
Grey.
But I'm not hugely into AUs -- if they veer too far from the original text, they feel like a convenient way to simply let readers know who the characters are supposed to look like.
I have never heard of this book
Skimmer.
Puh! You only LINKED to something about it, and, as we all know, one must not click on your links.
I am not interested in reading 50 Shades of Grey, but I am interested in reading a Steph L. diatribe about it. FWTW.

There was a discussion about it in Natter this week, what do you mean?
Ah, in that case, yes, I skipped all that.
I just finished Mockingjay. I'm still all flaily.
Trying to put together Mockingjay thoughts. Wow, that was bleak. Like, nobody comes out of there without serious psychological scars. Well, of the people who actually make it all the way to the end, anyway.
I'm also puzzling over the logistics of how the districts are divided up, and how many people there are and where they all live. The more I try to figure it out, the less sense it makes.
Wow, that was bleak.
I sometimes wonder if the Jr Hi kids who are reading them really get just how bleak and fucked up they are.
Probably. It's exactly the kind of bleak I would have loved in Jr. High. I would have read it from beneath a wall of my hair in my eyes, so you could not see into my black black heart. And then I would have gone roller skating.
