Tara: That was funny if you've studied Taglarin mystic rites and... are a total dork... Riley: Then how come Xander didn't laugh?

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I don't see "I'll wait and have more instant gratification later" being a really effective way to change behavior

Works for me, if I get a bigger bang. A really obviously bigger bang. I'm simplistic that way.

Because books.

I'm reading Water for Elephants, and I keep calling it Like Water for Elephants. Oops.

Was there a consensus on A Discovery of Witches? My mom has a copy I can borrow, but I seem to remember some readers here didn't like it.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I did the same thing when I was reading it. Do you like it?

I only read the kindle sample, but I hated what I read of it.

I do like it, sj! It's really straightforward, although I do like old!Jacob's crankiness. I'm only ... 27% through, according to the Kindle, but it's entertaining.

I really wish they had done more with the old!Jacob character in the movie. He is so entertaining in the book. I loved loved loved the book.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

I found the rest of the Skulduggery Pleasant books (4-6, that's it, right?)

Yup, so far. SHIT GETS REAL. Okay, real-er.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Man, shit's been pretty real all along. But that's a big part of what I like about it, so more real-er is more better. Or something.

Teppy!

I was so disappointed today -- I caved and ordered a used copy of the next Luxe book. And UPS came and had what looked like a book for me -- and it was a different book I won in a blogger contest. Argh.

I didn't love Discovery of Witches.
