Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

Shit's all sorts of different now.

We interrupt your programming for this important message...

HOLP! Does anyone have a copy of or know really well The Hundred Penny Box by Sharon Bell Mathis? I want to do a write up on it for one of my classes, but can't find my copy and I need to confirm that it is a chapter book.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

It does not appear to be divided into chapters, based on what I'm seeing online.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

That's what I got, too. Dangit. Should have used it for realistic fiction. I'll do Bud, Not Buddy instead.

"Oh no! Has falling sky liquid once again caused you the sadness?" -Starfire

Is Urban Fantasy the genre that usually has a cover with the female protagonist showing her back and usually sporting a tattoo and wearing leather or something badass-ish and holding a weapon?

According to io9, that phase is over. We've now moved on to the "tattooed man nipple"! Wheeeee!

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Is anyone here excited for DFW’s Pale King?

I'm not sure how I feel about it, but it looms in my future.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

So I got Infinite Jest to read along with Mark and now I'm already caught up and have barely started the book. Do I wait for Mark to post again or go ahead without him? I also got Julie & Julia for next month's book club and have not yet cracked it.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

If it helps at all, I really enjoyed Julie & Julia - more than I expected to. It unexpectedly really spoke to some angst I was feeling in my own life (tho' almost 10 years older and not yet married, so shut up, Julie! t /ignore me, still dealing with my own issues ). So I'd probably fill the time with J&J while waiting for Mark to catch up, if it were me.
