Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Is anyone here excited for DFW’s Pale King?

"Oh no! Has falling sky liquid once again caused you the sadness?" -Starfire

Is Urban Fantasy the genre that usually has a cover with the female protagonist showing her back and usually sporting a tattoo and wearing leather or something badass-ish and holding a weapon?

According to io9, that phase is over. We've now moved on to the "tattooed man nipple"! Wheeeee!

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Is anyone here excited for DFW’s Pale King?

I'm not sure how I feel about it, but it looms in my future.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

So I got Infinite Jest to read along with Mark and now I'm already caught up and have barely started the book. Do I wait for Mark to post again or go ahead without him? I also got Julie & Julia for next month's book club and have not yet cracked it.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

If it helps at all, I really enjoyed Julie & Julia - more than I expected to. It unexpectedly really spoke to some angst I was feeling in my own life (tho' almost 10 years older and not yet married, so shut up, Julie! t /ignore me, still dealing with my own issues ). So I'd probably fill the time with J&J while waiting for Mark to catch up, if it were me.

I read on in Infinite Jest, got to the first big gush of endnotes and said, "oookay, this is a good stopping point."

Waitaminute, the end notes have end notes? I don't think I can do this book before coffee.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

If I recall correctly, the endnotes of the endnotes have endnotes.
