Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

Because books.

I don't organize much beyond shelf by shelf. I put all fiction together, then poetry, nonfiction, etc., but I don't really alphabetize it, though I do put authors together. And hardcovers go together, with paperbacks together, etc. It's a little unique, but I always know where my books are.

I have to admit, I've been trying to find space on my shelves and I'm definitely tempted to get rid of books just because of their spine not really going with the rest of my collection: Kavalier & Clay I'm looking at you.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

I organize my books alphabetically by author (or editor, for anthology), and by title within an author's set.

Have any of you folks who like YA read the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series? It's not really YA, but it's really well done and very fast pace and entertaining.

I just read Riordan's new series with Egyptian Mythology.

Because books.

It's a little bit younger, right, Kat? I think Ben has the first book in that series, The Lightning Thief, but he read it a while ago. I haven't tried them.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

I love the Percy Jackson books. And they are currently my favorite example of why we should encourage the readig of fiction. Hundreds of kids have asked for books on greek Mythology because of those books

I hope we get another snowpocalypse this winter. If I'm stuck in my apartment for more than a couple of days, that's when I usually reorganize my bookshelves. They could really use it right now.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

People organize their books?

Mine are vaguely organized. They were originally organized by genre(ish) and author, but now they're back to their natural state of covering every flat surface I can get away with stacking things on.

Yes. More like early middle school, Amy. They are GREAT. Really enjoyable. And the new one, with Egyptian mythology is also so fun.
