I'm not sure how old he is, but I heard him use the word 'newfangled' one time, so he's gotta be pretty far gone.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

But the art on the walls depicted bare-breasted women wearing puissant jewel tone saris and deeply tanned skin.

Raise your hand if 'ew'.

According to dictionary.com, puissant is "powerful, to be able." I always thought it had something to do with wisdom or ability, but hadn't actually looked it up.

I wonder how powerfully capable saris and tanned (human? animal?) skins look together.

Also, my little pet peeve: jewel toned, not jewel tone. They're not currently being toned. They've already been toned.

Oh, also, ewwwww.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

I am also thinking, those who are bare-breasted while wearing saris are wearing them wrong. Yes? Because there's that whole top part that, you know, covers the breasts. Anyway, all the saris I've seen worn.

Oh, I'd forgotten that. There's a little t-shirty thing they wear under them. I borrowed one once (a sari, with t-shirty thing). Maybe they didn't used to do that? She could be right about something, I suppose.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Because there's that whole top part that, you know, covers the breasts

Depends on the sari. There are some that are dependent on a blouse to cover the boobies -- they're a skirt with a bit that goes loosely over the shoulder.

If I only had a brain...

Yes, but you wear a choli (Deena's little t-shirty thing) underneath.

Always Anti-fascist!

I think she means "sarong", yeah? If I were to keep a list of that kind of error, I'd be here till Friday.

"In the equation E = mc⬧, c⬧ is a pretty big honking number." - Scola

I believe there are ten thousand (okay, "many") different ways to wrap a sari, and some of them are... actually, I'm not sure about skirt-style, though it seems likely. But definitely there are wraps which make them pant-like (which is weird but cool, since it's one large piece of cloth which manages to turn into two-legged but fully covering pants).

ETA: This just means that it's possible; my guess would be that that's just a coincidence, and she actually meant something sarong-like.
