Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

I haven't installed AIM at work, since I really can't afford to be sucked into IM there.

I used to not, and now I have it up all day. I think part of it is that my AIM habits have changed since I got broadband at home -- when I was on a dialup, I used to have hours-long AIM convos much like the hours-long long-distance phone conversations I was replacing with it.

Now, with me and my most frequent correspondents (my BF and my Evil Twin) all broadbanded, I tend to leave the connection open all the time and have shorter exchanges throughout the day. More like being in the same house but not necessarily the same room with someone -- I might call out to them if I need to talk to them about something specific, or just drift through and say something for a few minutes in passing, but I'm less likely to have a single conversation that goes on at length. And it's only now that I've gotten used to the latter way of IMing that I feel like I can do it at work without completely frelling my meagre productivity.

And, really, my personal AIM sociology has nothing to do at all with fic, except I, uh, sometimes do quickie-betas over AIM.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Thank you!

I'll foward you the mail with the story and a link to the original.

Sometimes, I write very quickly. Other times, I find myself staring at the same hundred words over and over again. Which is where my flash fic is, actually.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I leave my AIM on most of the time that I'm in my room, except when I'm studying. It gets too distracting when I want to keep checking who's online.

Does anyone know that Harry Potter story when Draco is writing an epic poem? I can't find it, mostly because I'm stoopid.

Also, Hello new thread I haven't posted in before! I'm having a bit of a fan ficton dilemma, and need some expert advice.

Myself and a friend are having a competition to see who can find the weirdest fanfic possible. She wasn't doing too well until yesterday when I received a Roy Orbison/clingfilm story. Needless to say, it'll be hard to top. Any suggestions?

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Squid/Hogwarts?

Legolas/Ent?

...nah. I got nothin'

eta: Jars - I take it you've already read AJ Hall ?

(Some of it's slashy. Not all. Um.)

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

The epic poem story, Deus Ex Machina.

Squid/Hogwarts?

When you say "squid", do you mean an actual cephalopod, or some fictional character I'm too clueless to know about. Because if you're talking Calamari, that could easily surpass clingwrap.

I've got some links to some really really terrible Quantum Leap stories, several of which are very strange crossovers. (A few months ago, I was complaining about how hard it was to find good QL stuff, and SA started pressuring me to start a recs page for the stuff I did find, but I gave that up when I realized I could only find five stories that I would ever rec.)

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

So, like, the squid and the building?

Thanks for the link.

FayJay, you were actually thinking about that as you were reading the books, weren't you? The Squid? So many tentacles...So many possibilities...

Yup, I've already read A.J. Hall. That, my friend, is the shit.
