I hope you don't think that I just come over for the spells and everything. I mean, I really like just talking and hanging out with you and stuff.

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Come on out and see me, sumi--it's playing in a few of the theaters in my neighborhood. We can make a day of it!

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

No, no, wait 'till I get there, and we can all go see it in Indy!

Oh, right, the point was to see it before it sublimates into the atmosphere. Carry on, then!

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

I always stay until the end of the credits of every movie, just in case there is a treat at the end (and out of respect for all the people who work on films who never appear on screen) but I can't for the life of me remember the scenes from POTC 1 & 2! Can someone refresh my memory?

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

In PotC1, the monkey Jack went back to the enchanted chest and stole a coin, and as he headed back toward the camera, he passed through a patch of moonlight and was revealed to be undead again (because of the curse, y'know). Then he jumped at the camera to scare us. That's why he was undead in the next movie.

In PotC2, it was back to the strange island folk, and the little dog was on the throne. As we left the theater, I said to my friend, "You know that means they're gonna eat the dog," and the kid behind me went "Noooooo!" I laughed.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I meant to post yesterday - I saw Ocean's 13 on Tuesday, and it was a HUGE amount of fun. Loads better than O12. Terrific script, nice tight plot, lots and lots and lots of the pretty.

The plot is completely ludicrous of course, but it's just so much fun to watch them pull it off. The best parts are still the random off-topic conversations between Clooney and Pitt in-between the actiony bits. (There's a scene where they're in the hotel watching Oprah that had me almost crying it was so funny.)

So, O13 = Yay! Highly recommend! The first 3rd-in-a-series movie this summer that didn't suck!

James Berardinelli says the same thing. I liked this bit about Clooney and Pitt:

The differences between Ocean and Clooney and Rusty and Pitt have become so blurred that a late-movie exchange between them carries a double meaning. It can be seen as an exchange between the characters or the actors, and makes sense in either context.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

That's great news! Damon showed a clip on Letterman and it did not look promising.

I think my most anticipated sequel this summer is Bourne, however.

Loved this, though:

I, do however, have one bit of advice for Junior: Demand that the critters be digital, the cliffs be low, and for goodness sake keep that whip by your side at all times in case you need to escape from the stunt coordinator!
