Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Huh. It never occurred to me that Elizabeth had given up her life at sea.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

Yeah I don't think you can neccesarily assume that she's given up the life at sea just because ten years later she's waiting for Will on dry land.

Because books.

I think maybe it was because the geography looked like England to me, and the fact that she had a dress on, as opposed to the comfortable boy clothes she'd become accustomed to wearing.

Also, we see everyone else "settled" now that the big fight is over. Barbosa has stolen the Black Pearl again, Sparrow is still scheming and charming, we know Norrington and Beckett and Elizabeth's father are dead, and we see some of the crew -- Gibbs with Sparrow, the others with Barbosa. I fully expected Elizabeth to be the one commandeering the Black Pearl, so when she wasn't included in any of those scenes, I moved right to: she's given up the sea.

Also also, the boy's voice singing that song sounded wistful and hopeful to me, and his outfit -- with the hat and all -- came across very much as idol worship/make believe.

I could totally be wrong, though. That happens a lot.

Edited because I forgot a lot of stuff.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I saw Knocked Up tonight. Fun, though not nearly as funny as The 40 Year Old Virgin.

One problem I had was wondering why Debbie and Pete were still married, since he seemed completely disassociated and she had nothing but angry contempt for him. Corollary problem: Alyson seemed to have sane perspective on her sister's view of men in the beginning, but bought into it as the movie went on. Being angry with someone because they don't magically turn into the person you want them to be is a prescription for unhappiness. Corollary to the corollary problem: Ben did magically turn into the person Alyson wanted him to be. I can see fatherhood maturing someone eventually, but over a few weeks? WTF?

Waitress was sold out yet again, so it's going to be week 3 of release before I get to see it. Though I'm increasingly confident it will be around for weeks and weeks. The last time an indie film sold out that much in this venue it was Brokeback Mountain, and that had a guaranteed audience of every interested gay man within 80 miles of Memphis.

I finally saw Brokeback Mountain a couple of weeks ago.

I have to admit, it was kinda blah to me. Now, I don't know how much that had to do with the movie or how much it had to do with the fact that I had just spent two days in Wyoming.

Why don't you guys go see movies on weekdays? They never sell out. Well once, the first show of The Departed sold out on a Monday but that's just 'cause it was in a smaller house.

Because books.

I was amazed today that the theatre we were in for P3 had only about ... forty people in it, if my estimate is correct. LOTS of empty ROWS, not just seats.

But it was the third show -- 12:50, with 12:10 and 12:somethingelse is two other theaters, and three shows scheduled around 4ish. Still, I expected more people since it's only the second weekend, right?
