Yes, but there are some inside jokes in "Hot Fuzz" that reference "Shaun of the Dead."
Well, dang, I guess I'm going to have to rent SotD to find those. I just saw Hot Fuzz, but I have such a crap memory. I can tell you I've seen a movie and that's about it.
I definitely caught
the shortcut through the gardens
bit - what were some of the others?
Ah, they referenced so many cop flicks, I didn't realize that one was a ref to SotD.
Oh, and of course there was the
shootout in the bar.
Sail, that scene was lifted almost verbatim from Shaun, except for
Pegg's character actually being able to jump the fences this time.
"Hot Fuzz" As I recall, the actors playing Danny and Nicholas characters have the same exchange about wanting a "Cornetto" from a store. Also, I think that Danny shooting someone in the foot was similar to what happned in Shaun of the Dead. ***
Oh, that's fabulous, Jess. I think I'm going to have to get SotD, too. I'm not sure about the next one, though. They showed a trailer for "Run, Fatboy, Run" and while it had funny moments, it just didn't have a premise that really interested me.
Oh, one more Hot Fuzz thing I wanted to ask!
At both of the screenings we went to, DH and I were practically the only ones in the theatre laughing at the line
"Forget it Nick, it's Sanford."
So my question to the Buffista hivemind is, is it really that obscure a reference, or just not as funny as we thought it was?
[edited to fix the quote]
That line may be too obscure for the audience (although I got it). Maybe it's not a great fit for that point in the movie.
