So there was an article about Sundance in today's Globe and they had a bit about the movie Adrienne Shelly had directed before she was murdered (WAITRESS). Did anyone else know that Nathan Fillion was one of the male leads in the movie? Did he blog about this (or myspace or whatever the rut he does)? It's also got Keri Russell, Jeremy Sisto, Shelly, and Andy Griffith (!??!?!??!?) in it. Huh.
On an unrelated note (that should proabably go in the music thread, but it was on the same page of the Globe as the Sundance article), did anyone else know The Police were going on a reunion tour? Did Sting(k) finally realize why he used to be cool?
It creeps me out extra to read that she was murdered given that I saw her in that last scene with Bayliss so many times saying it made her feel good to know that if she got killed. he'd be there.
I hope whoever caught the case did a good job on it.

IIRC, they have gotten the murderous asshole who did it, but not so much because of brilliant detecting as because he was not only a murderous asshole but also the living embodiment of the H:LOTS adage that crime makes you stupid.
Such an utterly stupid, cruel, pointless loss. Not that any murder is ever a good thing, but... Adrienne Shelly -- new-ish mom Adrienne Shelly, no less, over a stupid, stupid dispute with a stupid thug of a neighbor. Fucking hell.
::is depressed all over again::
What JZ said. Everything I heard about it was "How can such stupid, vile people exist?" It was dumb, apart from being horrific.
Well, that's mostly what they are.
I don't know whether to be consoled or disgusted by the relative absence of Hannibal Lecters out there.
I'm really sorry to hear that...
What kind of society is this, Frank?
I'm glad they made the case, though.ETA: It's weird, because of some work she did...God, 15 years ago, she's sort of enshrined for me as The Cutest Little Pervert in The World. And for her, that was what? A week or two out of her life, that maybe occasionally she talked about on the street with a freak like me. But every time I take my jacket out of the closet, I think of her anyway, and how, really, horsehide's warmer. I don't know where I'm going with that except that maybe we affect people in ways we don't even know.(It's not quite as weird as it sounds...living in the desert, I don't use the leather all that much. )
We saw
Letters from Iwo Jima
last night. It was too long--the last 30 minutes seem to go on FOREVER, but there were some incredible performances and beautifully shot battle set-pieces.
Emily, JZ, and I saw Kiss Kiss Bang Bang last night. OMG with the hilarity. LOVED.
"This isn't good cop, bad cop. This is fag and New Yorker."
Tell them about the freaky toy, juliana.
Can't. I've wiped that memory from my files. I had to drink a lot of Fernet to do so, but I achieved wipeage.
(OMG, it is so very freaky.)
OMG with the hilarity. LOVED.
