Yay someone else saw Kiss Kiss Bang Bang isn't it swell? I finally admitted that Val Kilmer can act after that one.
Buffista Movies 5: Development Hell
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
I finally admitted that Val Kilmer can act after that one.
Have you never seen Tombstone, Real Genius or Top Secret?
Thunder Heart was passable, too.
What David said.
And I liked Kiss Kiss too. A lot. And I watched it twice in a row too. Much to see. Lots of detail and thrown away lines that get gleaned on rewatch.
I dunno why I always felt like he was playing the same guy. Maybe someone I had no respect for went on about how great he was before I had a chance to form my own opinion. Tombstone bugged me for other reasons but after I saw Kiss Kiss Bang Bang I was able to re-watch and enjoy it. Thank goodness I saw Real Genius. After that 'cause despite it's cheesey 80s-ness I love that one now too.
The Saint! The Saint was my childhood dream film.
I also liked the one where he was blind.
But KKBB was incredible. I was dying. (For those of you as likes it, there was some *amazing* KKBB fic from Yuletide this year.)
The Saint! The Saint was my childhood dream film.
?!?
I also liked the one where he was blind.
!?!
You realize these are two notorious flops, right? Universally held in low esteem. I'm afraid you've spent too much time in fandom. I'm going to send a team in for an extraction.
(Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is supposed to be very fun, though.)
That consideration vid for well-done. I was impressed, however, by the lack of Michael Caine.
Plus, the music they used had a great line, "It is anthropologically unfair..." I have to go find that song...
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is very fun.
I tried not to like The Saint, but I couldn't help myself. There are truly, truly painful bits but the Russians are terrific and Elizabeth Shue did a nice job of naive genius. Much as I don't want to like Val, see the above inability to help myself.
