(Does China have telenovelas? If they don't, they really really should.)
Taiwain does. Very long and involved and super soapy. But they're like long miniseries so characters can get killed off.
'Underneath'
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

From the Zap2it review of "Curse of the Golden Flower":
As we watch, stunned, a bloody Jacobean tide of murder, adultery, incest and rebellion pours through the chambers of a glorious palace, into a courtyard covered with millions of golden cut chrysanthemums.
Robin Hood (the Disney version is the ur-text for Furries, incidentally)
Ack, David, why do you tell me these things? That's one of my favorite movies! I got no beef with Furries, but I really don't want to think about people sexualizing that movie.
...Oh! Suddenly I understand why some people get all upset about the mention of Winnie the Pooh slash.

Anyway, it is to furries what Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is to inflation fetishists. The childhood flick that caused their first tingle down below.
Robin Hood and Little John yiffing through the forest...
Oddly enough, learning that about the Robin Hood movie makes more than perfect sense to me, and I can't work out why I think it makes as much visceral sense as it does logical. It's not like I've even seen the movie more than once, and that was a gazillion years ago.
Actually, maybe I never saw it. It might have just been the Viewmaster version.
I actually love that version, too. One of my favorite Disney cartoons. The Furry thing makes me laugh.

Well, I do appreciate the thought. Although, doesn't "a cocktail party full of sexual deviants" basically describe the F2F Prom? And I've managed to survive those (more or less) unscathed...

Oh, I think you were scathed and then some. Possibly chafed.
