Back upthread, Frank asked about why the HH didn't write about McCabe & Mrs. Miller, and I answered, too glib, that it was too large a topic.
That was joe boucher, actually. I am curious to read Dana's take on it, though. Her STRAW DOGS piece was a thing of beauty.
Yeah, she's just an amazing writer.
And sorry, the Joe sightings are so few and far between that it became you in my mind.
I saw the Making Of for
Fur
on cable and now I'm intrigued.
I sorta half recalled that Diane Arbus' brother (Howard Nemerov) was a famous poet.
I had no idea that her husband had been Allan Arbus who played Dr. Sidney Freedman on M*A*S*H.
Jessica nailed it for me wrt SMG. I was trying to figure out how to say exactly that.

They were shooting that in my neighborhood!
I don't remember it being mentioned here, but I saw a very lovely Canadian film the other night called Wilby Wonderful, starring Paul Gross, Callum Keith Rennie, Sandra Oh, and a host of other Canadian actors. It's beautifully shot and a darkly funny "a day in the life of" film. Definitely worth the Netflix.
Oh, is it finally Netflix-able? It wasn't for a while.
Saw Casino Royale.
Can I just say Whoa.
Pacing, casting, scenery, intensity, cleaving to the Fleming tone. Whoa.
I have only one quibble...
the denoument was way, way too long.
But other than that, Barbara Broccoli and her crew, get my vote for best revisioning of a franchise since...um, since anything ever on film.
Cubby must be proud, whereever he is...his daughter has totally shown him up.

Wilby Wonderful is like Canadian Actor Fan Porn. A friend loaned it to me in college and while I was interested in the quirky plot and did enjoy it, I was more psyched for seeing all these Canadian actors I slavishly adore on the same screen.
