We have to see the chimp playing hockey! That's hilarious! The ice is so slippery, and, and monkeys are all irrational. We have to see this!

Buffista Movies 5: Development Hell

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Two words: Simply Irresistible.

I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

vanguard of the socialist Hollywood liberal homosexualist agenda

Yeah, not even Sean Patrick Flanery could save that movie. (Actually, if I recall, he didn't do it many favors other than being exceedingly pretty.)

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

SMG won a Daytime Emmy.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I think SMG regards acting as a job with a skillset rather than as an art, or a calling. Which isn't necessarily a problem, but I think it's part of why (IMO) she's never better than the material she's given. She's very reliable, and very professional, but not very creative. (The overall suckiness of Harvard Man aside, it seemed to me like she was really struggling with the improv. Her scenes went on for-fucking-ever because she never made a choice in any of them, she just reacted.)

I also think it's why she seems to be satisfied playing the Horror Victim of the Week -- it's good money and reliable work. I don't get the sense that she craves creative challenges.

SOUTHLAND TALES which was the other big bete noir at Cannes besides Marie Antoinette - and was much more roundly despised, and has yet to pick up a distributor).

Sony bought it back in June.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Sony bought it back in June.

Ah, I missed that bit of news.

Wow. No wonder Susan Lucci was so bitter.

Actually, if I recall, he didn't do it many favors other than being exceedingly pretty.

True. He is SOOOO pretty.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Wow. No wonder Susan Lucci was so bitter.

Yup. It is rumored to be the reason SMG left the show.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Cruel Intentions is a great movie. IMHO, anyway.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Mine, too!

Simply Irresistible, on the other hand, had a magic crab.
