Plus isn't School of Rock little kids?
It's been an ongoing bone of contention within the school systems forever.
This shouldn't be, either. It makes me crazy that budgets are limited to the point where it seems like it has to be a choice between arts and sports, and actually kids should have both if they can physically do them.
Now, I'm Captain PickedLast, but graphic and performing arts are physical and there's a lot of right-brain stuff going on in sports (I'm not counting baseball statistics, obviously).
Anyway, my basic point is More Money For Schools.
Center Stage
might be a good recent choice, though I'd go with
Fame
as the better movie of that ilk.
I'd put the kids in
School of Rock
at 11-13.
I'd be remiss if I didn't say: S4 of The Wire (starting Sunday).
The Chorus is a great little movie, but the kids are elementary aged. Don't know if that makes a difference.

It took me a few blinks to realize this wasn't a suggestion for Suzi.
It is! Wasn't the request for film about the education system? Given how realistically The Wire's handled everything else about the public sector, I strongly believe that this season will provide the most realistic depiction of inner-city education ever set to film.

t thwap!
Duhhhh. I'd completely forgotten that was going to be the focus.
Corwood, babe, if there wasn't a Mrs. Corwood, and assorted laws of time and space to consider, I believe I'd bend you over a patrol car for that. And not just cause I'm gonna have a hard time with both less McNulty and trying not to make Pres a woobie.
Yes, The Wire's all about the kids this year. Junior- high kids.
