I was given to understand that Death Dealers were the fightin' vampires, the ones who did the dirty work so the rest could sit around wearing corsets and engaging in intrigues.

Buffista Movies 5: Development Hell
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
Selene's been a death dealer for 600 years--was she turned in 1223 and just sat around?Ita, there were some odd things in that chronology, and I'm not sure I remember well enough to answer you. The imprisoned brother: was his prison constructed before he was captured or after, and if so what did they do to keep him contained while it was being built? Selene was turned after it'd been built--but she was a child then, and wouldn't she have remained a child? Or was she a child then?
Kate Beckinsale in fetishwear clouds my memory.

This.
If they're sticking with what they ripped from White Wolf games.
but since these guys were like Reilly, O'Connor, Washington, and Plot Device, it was like "eh."
HAR.
Thanks. It really did remind me of Simpsons war movie parodies with Fatty and Brooklyn(or is that KOTH? Both?)
Oh, I forgot to mention (until now) that I saw "Imagine Me and You." It has some really bad bits, but on the whole I came out with a huge grin on my face from the overwhelming cute.
More onscreen femslash, please! British accents optional but a nice benefit.
Mikey, I whited out your plot details. But I do remember that they waited to turn Selene until she was a young woman--they showed her when her family was killed (Victor hugs her afterwards).
Oh! I just remembered--the Ultraviolet trailer looked beyond awful. Laughable, even.
Hah. Saw Underworld today (didn't like it) with Ultraviolet as one of the preview trailers, and came away thinking that Ultraviolet looks like it will be just as silly as Underworld, but at least the audience will be able to see what's going on.
Thanks ita. I sure wasn't thinking story when I saw Underworld, nor when posting about it.
I saw Underworld tonight and had the same timeline problems as everyone else. At one point I thought someone said something to Selene that made it sound like she'd been around in the 6th century, but the line might have been "for six centuries" instead, which would make a little more sense. Anyway, very confusing. Also, in the final showdown, I thought it was funny that both William and Viktor seemed almost completely unscathed by the bullets, and yet a good 3/4 of the fight consisted of Selene shooting at them. I kept thinking, "Okay, honey, clearly that's not working! Time to try a different tactic!"
Oh, and ita is totally right about the "Oh, you mean *this* key" scene. That cracked me up.
