You never know if a girl's gonna say 'yes', or if she's gonna laugh in your face and pull out your still-beating heart and crush it into the ground with her heel.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Saw The Proposition. It's a very violent western with a screenplay by Nick Cave.

Fun times.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I saw The Break-Up and Over The Hedge today.

The Break-Up is NOT the light-hearted comedy being sold in the trailers. It's not a heavy drama, but it's definitely not as much fun to watch as the promos would have you believe. A lot of it is pretty painful to watch -- it's far more realistic than it's being sold. Which isn't to say it's a bad movie, but it's definitely not a comedy, or at least, not primarily so. DH and I came out taking completely opposite sides regarding the relationship, interestingly.

Over the Hedge is the first Dreamworks Animated movie since Antz that I've liked at all. (Yes, I hated both Shrek movies. A lot.) It's still filled with one-dimensional stock characters, but they're very funny stock characters and the voice work is terrific. Steve Carrell (the hyperactive squirrel) is especially hysterical.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Interesting... the trailers for Breaking Up made it look plenty painful to watch to me. My impression was that Jennifer Aniston would be channeling Rachael Green's most annoying "you should read my mind so you can better cater to my romantic expectations" traits, and Vince Vaughn would be playing the same smug asshole he always does, only without any hint of charm or humor.

steak and mashed potatoes (hey, it was brunch)...

I'm watching The Crow: Wicked Prayer on SciFi and just got the impression that David Boreanaz was the only major player in the wedding scene not higher than a kite. Though between Dennis Hopper and Tara Reid, I suppose that's a safe bet.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

I saw X3 today. I was pretty entertained. I went in expecting crap and thought it wasn't so different from the first two. Sure, there was a bit of shitty dialogue and you could see the CGI at times, but overall I thought it was pretty good. There I said it!

Skeffington slayed me. "Fanny!" Hahahahahahahaha. GF and I have been on a big Bette Davis kick lately (due to the new box set that just came out). We watched The Man Who Came To Dinner tonight. Very non-Bette role, but still enjoyable. My tops used to be 1. Kate Hepburn and 2. Joan Crawford. I must say that Bette is giving Joan a run for her money... Still love me some Joan, though!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Still love me some Joan, though!

Have you ever seen A Woman's Face? She's great in that.

I TiVoed the last Matt Helm movie The Wrecking Crew because I'd never seen it. I usually watch these on FF and stop for scenes of interest. I know it's ridiculous to note but they're jarringly sexist - even for this genre. Lots of gorgeous women in this one though. Tina Louise looking way hotter than she ever was as Ginger. Elke Sommer at her physical peak. Amazing body. Nancy Kwan - supersleek and groovy. And I couldn't place the fourth female, who played Helm's ditzy fellow agent Freya Carlson. I kept thinking, "God, she's beautiful even with the weird wig. How come I've never seen her in anything else. Women that beautiful usually wind up in a lot of movies."

It was Sharon Tate.

move out and draw fire

God, that's depressing, Hec. Thanks.

That's part of the reason I have a really hard time watching The Fearless Vampire Killers.
