Spike: I'm not a monster. Xander: Yes! You are a monster. Vampires are monsters! They make monster movies about them! Spike: Well, yeah. Got me there.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

try holding your exhale. I found that very evening.
Thanks, it is creeping down a little with this. Actually 85 now. *Much* more comfortable with that number. Not great but I am not so concerned with just passing out now.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Good, good. The other thing I have to work on, and I'm not sure it's relevant, but it does relax, is thinking of your hands being warm and your head cool. It's for improving your circulation, but it always calms me down in my sessions.

I always figured holding my inhale was the key to relaxing, but it just made me lightheaded. Holding the exhale worked much better.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I do a thing where I breathe in for four, hold for four, breathe out for four. Sometimes I do eight on the in and out.

If you do this with heartbeats, you can get to feel them get slower as part of the exercise. 'Tis cool.

Ooh, that is cool. Except if my heart is racing, wouldn't I start out practically hyperventilating?

OK, you know what stupid thing I like? The "too excited to sleep!" Disney ad kid. I'm glad they brought that back.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Thanks for the compliment to my website, by the way.

Always a pleasure.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Sometimes I do eight on the in and out.

I've done a variation on that for hiccups.

I've never had my heartbeat going that fast. But I do breathe pretty shallowly as a matter of course. So maybe I wouldn't notice.

Yeah, I guess not. It's weird trying to pay attention to normal breathing -- it's like I can't breathe normally on command!
