You know, it's funny. We went to war never looking to come back, but it's the real world I couldn't survive.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

If I have shallots, I could go make that right now. And I suspect it will be FG. Thanks! And then I could slice the rest of the beets I roasted from the farmer's market Sunday to go with and *poof* dinner.

I just watched GA (cause my mom was here and so television from about Saturday onward had to wait). I fall more and more in love with Cristina and Burke every time I see them. Or see bits of backstory. I'll rewatch after I get through the 24s.

Kat's dinner is making me wish I had screened potential husbands better because mine is a picky eater who would reject that yummy dinner without even tasting it.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Cass, you can also use garlic. And if you have no goat cheese, you can use lemon instead.

Oh, sparky! I'm sorry. I love shallots and mushroom and goat cheese.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

That reminds me that we need to plan a trip to Shiok!

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Huh. In the mail today I got an interest statement for taxes from a bank I'm pretty sure I've never banked with. What does that mean?

Security deposit?

Allyson, just go ahead and change the name. I found it surprisingly easy to adapt to a name I didn't even choose-- doing it for a trial basis helps. A rose will smell as refreshingly bitter and all that.

Yeah, I rummaged the fridge and it looks like I am going to have to go for the garlic swap. I do have some really good spinach and goat cheese.

Off to "cook," which since a lot of it was already prepped from dinner last night, mostly means cook the garlic and warm stuff up. Then again, that describes how I cook spinach most times.

I wish I had the chicken to go with it. Sounds delicious.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Yikes. Chicagoistas, be careful out there. With the roads starting to ice over, they're now reporting nineteen-car and thirty-car pile ups within blocks of each other.

In fact, I'm feeling magnanimous - the rest of you be careful out there too.

Heh, my originally, my post said something about screening the husbands OR making a dinner date with Perkins. Then I decided not to pressure you. Not anymore!

Oh, sparky! I'm sorry. I love shallots and mushroom and goat cheese.

::sniff:: me too!

The good news is that the hubby is out of town, so I have plans to eat what we refer to as "pork fried cheese with vegetables and other verboten food" while he is gone.

24's phone system is reassuring. Stuff changes but the "byoop boop" remains the same.

(eta: I'll take my continuity where I can find it. However, I still prefer if my verb tenses to match.)

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

My physical therapist managed to get me not only prevented from testing, but also from training and from teaching anything other than level 1 or 2.

I could punch the shit out of something right now.

But apparently that's not allowed.
