This sounds like something out of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe. Quantum mechanics is just cool. Mind hurting, but cool.
With the right set-up, the theory suggested, the computer would sometimes get an answer out of the computer even though the program did not run. And now researchers from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign have improved on the original design and built a non-running quantum computer that really works.

Oh! I needed some happy news! Many congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Wolfram!
May we add and add and never subtract. Indeed.
Happy Birthday to Lysana and Baby Wolfram!
Gud, I saw a story about that this morning, but I had to stop reading it because my brain was giving me error messages. There's a fine line between cool and brain-foldingly-weird, and quantum computing is on the wrong side.
And ION Ben & Jerry's list of new flavors for 2006 is out. I really want to try the Black & Tan.
Some people just can't take a joke, for the record.
Not aimed at any here, just a global statement.
Some people are very nice.

Wolf cub! Is that the child of a Wolfram?
I think everyone should go on dates. Not necessarily including me, because I just can't imagine it.
People in my office say they have never heard anyone say "What's the what?" - Back me up here people.
Mmmmm, I want to try "Vermonty Python™" -- Coffee liqueur ice cream with a chocolate cookie crumb swirl & fudge cows
Passion fruit? Interesting choice. I'm surprised they didn't start with mango.
Not unrelatedly, the degree to which I'm now craving mango/pineapple ice cream is quite tremendous. I may have to do something about that this weekend.
