Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

There's also pregnancy brain, I guess.

I probably have the most "academic moments" in my family, and am the least academic.

"The fact that we live at the bottom of a deep gravity well, on the surface of a gas covered planet going around a nuclear fireball 90 million miles away and think this to be normal is obviously some indication of how skewed our perspective tends to be."

I call it a "Brain fart".

brainfarts (see? great minds and all that crap.)

My face is hurting to avoid laughing. It was locking the fridge that did it.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

What excuse do the rest of us blockheads have when we do stuff that's stupid like that? Senior moments? Blonde moments?

Heh, I've got a friend who is both an academic and a blonde and while he's what I consider generally saavy about day to day stuff, manages to have more than his fair share of "moments". I'm guessing that must be double jeopardy.

"In the equation E = mc⬧, c⬧ is a pretty big honking number." - Scola

My question is, who are the people who don't have these kinds of events?

Ann, that's a ferret.

Whew. Finally caught up on this thread and most of my other threads. Still 3500 posts behind on Natter 41 and 2000 on Bitches.

Vacation good. Saw many islands. Enough sugar cane, banana trees, breadfruit trees, etc., to start a tropical produce store. And that doesn't include the garden tour on St. Vincent -- with a guide who plans to write a thesis on the local black snakes.

We hiked to a waterfall in Trinidad. Started with about 1/4 mile of very, very steep paved trail. Followed by unpaved trail that was mostly rocks. And moss-covered. And slippery. And too close to the edge of a cliff. But it was worth it when we got to the waterfall. Gorgeous sight. Hubs got into the waterfall (yes, there are pics, which I hope to put up somewhere over the weekend).

The train ride in St. Kitts was much more relaxing, though. And St. Maarten is still our favorite island.

Lessons learned: There is no need to do an excursion at every island. Now that we've seen a large number of islands, there really isn't any need to do the "get on a bus and see the sights" excursion anymore. Next time, go snorkeling -- preferably in Bonaire (though I wouldn't give up having seen the slave huts on the coral beach or the flamingos).

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

UK may chance law to allow "small" brothels:

The law could be changed to allow two prostitutes and a receptionist or maid to work together legally in brothels, the government has confirmed.

Currently only lone prostitutes can offer sex from flats or other premises without breaking the law.

Launching the new prostitution strategy for England and Wales, minister Fiona Mactaggart said that working in groups would be safer for women.

The Home Office plans also include tougher rules for men who buy sex.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

My Mom, Dad, and dearly departed cat, Vivaldi, greeted me.

Well, a zombie cat is enough to make anyone a little scatter-brained.

Love the image of him flinging the gloves down the hall and then going inside.
