Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

My boom story isn't very exciting - we heard a loud boom, looked out the window, and saw that someone going way too fast had rear-ended a parked car and slammed it up onto the sidewalk and into a phone pole. Totalled both cars, but no one injured. It was a woman in her mid-fifties, not the sort you'd expect to be speeding recklessly down a residential street. And that was the only car parked on that side; it was as if she'd aimed for it.

I have a small-boom story too - one day when I was a teen, my mother and I were washing dishes and ball lightning appeared in the kitchen right over our heads. It made little crackle-boom sound, dashed a few feet leaving a lightning trail, and disappeared. My mom and I just stood there with our mouths open. It wasn't even raining that day. Weirdest thing. Like a living thing that just dropped by: "Hi, y'all! Washing dishes? Boring. Bye!"

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I just caught a Nancy Giles on CBS complaining that women are naked too much. Does she have a rep? Is she a prude? I mean, the answer to why is "There's a paying audience." She seemed to think it was icky, but most importantly wasn't advocating more male nudity.

Nilly! I hope it goes well.

Happy birthday, Kristin!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Good luck with the date, Nilly. I was actually just talking about you and dating the other night, in a kind of cultural comparison conversation.

Good luck getting to work, Tom and bon bon! I have to HAVE TO do a lot of work today, but I'm not going anywhere. Well, I guess I'll have to go for a walk to see the snow, but that's about it.

I can't stop playing Bejeweled--I'll be hearing "Go!" and "Level Up!" in my sleep.

Trijinx was my problem last night -- I totally woke up thinking about it. SO BAD.

Happy birthday, Kristin!

Mostly lurking...

What kinds of math?

Pre-Calculus. Graphing, lines, slopes, etc.

Have fun on the date, Nilly!

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Hope the date goes well, Nilly.

We've got some snow here, but not much. Maybe 6 inches or so? I'm going to go get lunch, then I'm meeting a friend to study.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Someone gets to go out on a date with Nilly? Lucky them!

Swouncing

ball lightning appeared in the kitchen right over our heads

Wow, you're the first person I know who actually saw a ball lightning and didn't create it (well, something similar to it, probably) on their own in the microwave, like my brother and me. Cool.

Thanks for the good-luck wishes. I go to a blind date with the sole purpose of meeting somebody new. This way, I can't fail. If that "somebody new" is also a nice person, then I'm already on the plus side, even if the both of us never want to see each other again.

I was actually just talking about you and dating the other night, in a kind of cultural comparison conversation.

Oh, in what connection?

I still remember a talk I had here with meara once about how the dating-communities of the both of us are so similar, despite the vast differences between them.

Our wings are not tired.

I just caught a Nancy Giles on CBS complaining that women are naked too much.

That was rather @@. Did you see the bit on the same show where Nora Roberts called Anna Karenina a wimp and Buffy the Vampire Slayer a real kick ass character? It made me smile.

information libertarian

Hmm. I am watching CBS, but Dora The Explora is on. No nudity.

Oh yeah, different time zones.

Have fun on the blind date! I never had one of those.
