Doesn't matter that we took him off that boat, Shepherd, it's the place he's going to live from now on.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME!!!

Which reminds me: lunch!

Tom, other strategies include: I slipped on unplowed snow and broke my ankle (note: you will probably have to actually break an ankle); I slipped on unplowed snow and sprained my wrist (an ACE bandage will do the trick); or It is Sunday and you and your double-overtime can go screw (um, that's the last resort).

I'm not a big fan of the Oreo, the mint Oreo however is another matter.

This morning I was making breakfest for the kids and Leif walked up to me.

"I want breakfest."

"I'm making breakfest."

He took a look at me making jelly toast.

"I want donuts, not jelly toast!" Leif declares.

"We don't have any donuts."

"Oh shucks!"

Ann, that's a ferret.

It's not. Unless you live in Northern Virginia, where everybody still does 80 mph through same, and is really surprised when they end up in a ditch.

DC area forecast for tomorrow -- 2-4 in the city, 3-5 in the western suburbs.

Points south are even worse. I've seen schools closed for snow that was only sticking on the grass.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Cutehead Leif.

Yay nourished msbelle!

ita, I would say "Name(s) of one or more project sponsors."

People love to freak out about lame amounts of snow, but haven't they always? Part of my problem is my first winter as a grownup was spent in Washington DC, where they fully freak out about every flurry, somewhat for good reason -- the street I lived on the first (very snowy) winter never ever got plowed. It was a disaster.

I hope my lunch is ready -- I am ready for it!

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Of course, in DC, predicting the possibility of snow usually results in people rushing to the store and stocking up on milk, bread, etc. However, it never seems to inspire them to buy snow tires or slow down. IJS.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I've seen schools closed for snow that was only sticking on the grass.

Yup -- this happened to me all the time when I was a kid.

The main problem with DC and snow is that there is approximately one snowplow for the entire district, and NOBODY knows how to drive in even a little bit of ice. So it's better to just panic, stock up on bottled water, and stay home.

well, the problem often is that they wait until the snow's stopped falling ... which means the driver can't get to the plow.

My old school district was USD501 in Topeka, KS and they did not shut down for snow. One time I had to walk about a mile from the bus back to my house because the bus couldn't make it to my neighborhood due to snow. My mom works for USD501 now and tells me they still don't shut down for snow.
