Re: the undercover cat: Any NYers know more about this? How did the dog get injured? Did it really swallow a foreign object?

Completely random factoid. In fact, even more random than usual:
Due to mass being converted into energy as a result of nuclear fusion, "the Sun loses around 4,200,000,000 kilograms every second!"
Due to this loss of mass, every hundred years the earth moves one meter further from the sun. But not all at once.
::hugs Google::
That is both awesome and terrifying.
Isn't it, though? We have difficulty comprehending the mass of, say, a mountain. The mass of the sun is so beyond our comprehension (except in the abstract, number-in-scientific-notation sense).
So today President Bush offered more details on a thwarted 9/11-type attack against Los Angeles' tallest building.
Mayor Villaraigosa's response was "Umm, helloWTF???"
So today President Bush detailed a thwarted 9/11-type attack against Los Angeles' tallest building
Pfft. Everyone knows that terrorist attacks against LA are thwarted by Jack Bauer.
The funny thing about that LA terrorism story is that I heard it reported this morning as if it was a big new story. In actuality, Bush first talked about it last October, when he was trying to divert attention from the continuing Katrina debacle and other assorted failures of his adminstration.
And let me tell you, as an employee of the owner of the tallest buildings NEXT to the Library Tower, we ain't heard shit.
I can't help but feel sometimes that his repeated namedropping of that thwarted attack is his veiled way of saying "I can blow up Los Angeles any time I want!"
I checked Zillow for my house and neighborhood. According to it, my house has appreciated 129% since I bought it six years ago. That's some investment return.
