Ben: I didn't ask for any of this. I just want to be normal. Gronx: I wanted to be an underwear model. We play the hand we're dealt.

information libertarian

Fred Phelps' people are planning to picket Coretta Scott King's funeral tomorrow. They also have been picketing funerals of servicepeople killed in Iraq. A soldier's wife testified that they were yelling, "Your husband is in hell, Brandy. God hated Dominic."

On reflection, "people" is not an appropriate term for that kind of group. "Cheetah food" might be more satisfying.

This is extra startling after the paparazzi conversation.

The ending of the article is really tasteless:

Call it a hunch, but we're guessing Witherspoon won't let the dark news of Wallace's demise put much of a damper on her banner awards show season.

As expected, the Walk the Line star pulled in an Oscar nomination for Best Actress last month, after already claiming the honor at the Golden Globes, the SAG Awards and the Critics' Choice Awards.

More guitar art, sort of: [link]

This line is depressing, however:

The wood for the tops and backs of the two guitars will come from a 400-year-old golden spruce tree that was sacred to the Haida First Nation. The tree was cut down by a white logger in 1997. It was the last of its kind in the world.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

The whole story of the Golden Spruce is pretty heartbreaking, I'm glad something artistic was done with it.

Hey, homies. Thanks for all the hugs.

Trudy, I'm so sorry for your losses, and was very touched by your beep-me post.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Fred Phelps' people are planning to picket Coretta Scott King's funeral tomorrow.

At some point, Freddie and his ilk are going to start protesting at the funerals of vocal homobphobes who just weren't supportive enough of his carnival of hatred.

Also, how dumb do you have to be to picket the funeral of Martin Luther King Jr.'s *widow*? I'd like to see Freddie and his posse get torn apart, quite frankly. Not literally.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I'm sorry for your loss, Trudy.

Um, okay, this is neither here nor there, but Reese Witherspoon has a rather pointy chin--or perhaps it is truer to say she has a very big grin that makes her chin look pointy. Yea unto Fred Astaire, I sayeth.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

On reflection, "people" is not an appropriate term for that kind of group. "Cheetah food" might be more satisfying.

Last week I was trying to think of an appropriate burial for Fred and I'm not sure I'm capable of thinking of anything distasteful enough.

OK, how does a comma key spontaneously detach? Because it did and that is truly weird. It's reattached now (and my god, is that a bitch to align on a laptop) but....weird. Also? Lots of cathair in there despite liberal use of the canned air.
