I choose Supernatural over listening to the Shrub.
On Oscar noms... anyone else think Brokeback deserved a make-up nom? It was so subtle and convincing. Subtlety is not appreciated nearly enough.

I read elsewhere that the vistas were tinkered with with CGI--extra sheep, rearranging the mountains, etc. Pretty slick. And subtle.
Ang Lee gives good subtle.

I actually thought the age makeup was the weakest part of the film. It came close to breaking my suspension of disbelief a few times.

Now THAT is impressive.
Tichenor is quick to praise the skillful visual effects created by Buzz Image Group. He explains, “Buzz did a tremendous amount of work: sky replacements, set extensions, erasures. But the big thing was sheep replication. 700 sheep were on set; we needed 2,500 in some scenes.”
....
“We did CG sheep enhancements in some shots - adding sheep in the mid-ground and background - and a couple of shots that were all CG. If we've done our job correctly, no one will know what we've done.”
I knew about tinting the skies, but 75 effects shots? Never would have guessed.

And this is just a great thing to be able to say.
The Mustachio was not subtle. But I did wonder about bonus sheep. Because there were really A LOT of sheep in some of those long shots.

WORD. Seriously, the mustache was a crime against humanity and I thought Ennis's eyes were particularly bad. His whole face should have aged more.
I read a rant on LJ about how those were the bizarrest, most unnatural sheep in the galaxy. They were obedient, and quiet, and remarkably un-obstinent -- we decided they must have been Quaaluded sheep, but fake sheep is an equaly good explanation.
I loved the wee lambies being carried up on the horses. I hope they weren't CGI lambies.
