Not to mention your blood relatives'. Yeesh. Don't they have an ethics board in medicine?

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I've called my dad. When I told him it was a scam and why I thought so, he said he had thought it might be. But my cousin is my mom's nephew, the only doctor in the family, and she dotes on him. In between Dad, me, and Mom's doctor (who, I expect, will not be on board with her diabetic patient taking sugar pills) I'm thinking we can talk Mom down from this.

Don't they have an ethics board in medicine?

Oh, if I find out he's continuing to push this I will do my best to get him censured in some way. I don't care if that side of the family disowns me.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Happy birthday, Anne!

Jeez, Calli, that's so sketchy.

I finally had to open my bedroom window last night because I was hot even without the covers on. That's BANANAS. It's not like the super isn't here. Other apartments must not be so hot.

Oooooh, it gets better and better. The distributors of the pricey sugar pills are being sued for fraud and invasion of privacy. [link]

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Gronk.

Have taught two classes, and acquired coffee. Perhaps will be awake soon.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Oh my...

  • Mannatech distributors circulated a nude picture of the child and claimed that he had benefited from their products.
  • The child actually died in 1997, shortly after using the products.
  • The marketing campaign persisted until 2004 despite requests by child's mother to stop it.

That's fucked up.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Calli, this whole thing reminds me of the time I was at the Atlanta airport, waiting for a flight, and this guy sitting by me spent the entire hour and a half before the flight making sales calls for some sort of mystical product like that. It was really uncomfortable, listening to him leave voicemails for people and talk to people he didn't really know, trying to rope them into becoming salespeople for this product. Your cousin should be ashamed of himself.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Mnnf. Morning, all!

I'm taking a sick day today. My body is ten million types of sore, and I need to look into a last-minute chiro session, a massage, and a flexibility class. I'm worried that the body pain will trigger headaches, so I'm moving slowly and doing biofeedback exercises.

I was wondering if I'd be mobile the day after. I expected headaches, but I've managed to quit two so far this morning.

Calli-good luck in getting your parents disentangled. The Herbalife pyramid scheme bothers me enough, but yours is more serious.
