"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Remember how when you were little and you had horrific surgery, like your tonsils or whatever, and you got prizes? For my wisdom teeth? I got puppet Angel! And his nose comes off!

Sweet! JZ got that for xmas.

Our day was salvaged. To his credit, when Emmett and I were at loggerheads he said, "Can you just give me a second so I can stop crying?"

So I gave him fifteen minutes, and he settled down and read his book. Then I told him to go ahead and read for another half hour and then we'd go out.

When his half hour was up - without any prompting - he put on his hat, grabbed the frisbee and the vortex (tiny nerf football with arrow in back) and we all headed out. Went over to Kezar and invented our new game Throw-and-Switch. Which was we had to simultaneously throw one item and catch the other item. Which was very tricky because you throw a frisbee differently than a vortex and you had to pick up the thing you were catching when it was almost on top of you. We got up to five completions in a row, which took considerable energy and effort.

Then we walked down Haight Street, got a gummy tongue candy at the novelty store. Walked to the Panhandle and threw the frisbee some more. Petted dogs coming and going. Stopped at Kid Robot and Emmett bought a Kubrick figure in the new Star Wars series - a Death Star Gunner. Stopped at the organic produce store and got some fantastic looking raspberries and blackberries and strawberries (all from NZ I expect). Stopped at Rockin' Java and JZ and I played pool (she beat me for the first time and sank five in a row at one point) and Emmett got to the seventh level of PacMan. We all had hot chocolatey drinks of some flavor or another. (JZ had the Black Satin which was a mocha with a shot of blackberry syrup.)

Not a bad day by any means.

Now we are back home and contentedly doing the quiet reading, computering and toy playing.

Dog of the day: Remington the Great Dane Puppy. Only 10 weeks old and bigger than several full grown dogs we saw.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

God, Hec, you're so mean, forcing a day like that on your son.

Had the krav pics taken. One big group shot. I was the only one in a skirt, so I made sure my legs were obscured. We had a small panic when we realised that all the black people were standing in a clump at one side. We still ended up a bit left-heavy but I think it shouldn't be as glaring as it started out being. And maybe the blond thing will throw it off.

There were also individual pictures and bio sheets we had to fill out. I'm afraid of the next version of the web site. Why do they want to know if I'm single? (I said N/A)

Tried to find a short denim skirt. They seem not to exist with out being destroyed denim, or covered in flair. I'm not flairy.

are you looking for straight, a-line, pleated, full?

§ ita § - Jan 21, 2006 2:39:12 pm PST #1802 of 10002
Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The skirt has to be a neutral piece, and also dress-uppable, so destroyed and flair don't work for that. Looking for short, a few inches above the knee--the shorter it is, the more A-line it can be. I just need to be able to sit in it without the construction part of my hose showing.

Apparently my outfit today was "Mmm....mmmmm.....huh." Translated from boy speak that means "Like the top. LIke the skirt! Oh, those boots look like they can hurt my man parts." I like clunky boots and short skirts and tights.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I've been watching far too many Mythbusters shows in a row. My dreams are sure to be full of things exploding or crashing.

msbelle, the first two are the same link. The third is pretty close to what I want--standard jean weight, very simple line. I need to try it--I wonder if my local Nordie has it.
