We went to the retirement community's Christmas/Holiday dinner, which was very nice. The people who run this place do a very astute job of figuring out how to bring people together -- over food, and good food at that. So an elderly person is much less likely to go without human interaction for more than half a day, and there are plenty more opportunities to be social and pursue hobbies and crafts. Also, there is a member-run library at each center, and a consignment shop, a beauty shop, bank and so on.
For the evening, my mom borrowed a cat from her friend, in order for a) the cat to get a treat and b) to give my mom something to fuss over, so that she's a little more distracted from going into a funk over I've Sold My Only House And Now I Am Homeless At Christmas. Getting some help in getting the apartment properly set up is also helping, on my part....
Loaner cats are a thing of genius, and gives old cats a purpose in life when they're not so up for being cute. Warm, fuzzy, purring lumps go far to brighten any occasion.
I just saw Brokeback Mountain. ::sigh::
Did it break you, and did you have to go all the way to the Grove?
Did it break you, and did you have to go all the way to the Grove?
It didn't break me. so much as make me limp. Every single frame with Heath Ledger in it was so terribly terribly sad.
And no Grove! Went to the new-and-improved eerily-empty Century City mall. Almost stayed for
Casanova.
In fact, I might eat and return for the 4:55 showing.
Casanova will pick you right back up!
Lori and I saw that this AM. Cute. Fluffy.
And they gave her a free poster iffen you want it.
Limp is a good word for it.

Yay! Go movie, choose movie.
Cross posted from both my LJ and Bitches:
I just got a new cell phone, and somehow when Verizon deactivated the old one, all of my address book phone numbers went away. Can anyone who wants me to have either their cell numbers OR their home numbers (I kept most home numbers there, since I don't do well with address books) email them to me, or go to LJ where I am screening all comments, so no one else will see?
Thanks!
I'm watching the Yule Log on Channel 11 right now!
We had the Yule Log Channel on all night last night! And part of this morning, too.
The loaner cat is named Star, but I'm referring to her as Asterisk for now. :-)
HAPPY KPRINKLE!!!
Merry Christmas!
Happy Channukah!
and last but not least Merry Channumas and Happy Christmukah.
Church two days in a row is not so normal. We did presents last night as well as big turkey dinner. Today has been snacking and sitting and knitting and getting my parents' computer set up to deal with 2 iPods. Now more family is over to visit and we are being silly. Tomorrow I learn to use my new serger and then go SHOPPING!
