That's disturbing. You're emotionally scarred and will end up badly.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

Or is Hugo just nuts?

That is the unanswerable question...!

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

well, wasn't it Dead!Charlie who convinced Hugo to go back to the island, or was at least urging him to go back? And then Jacob gets in the cab with him and gives him the guitar. Were the Dead!Charlie visits counter to Jacob's?

So maybe Hugo's been seeing Jacob and other people have been seeing MIB? Interesting. It sort of works. If you don't worry too much about which is which.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I don't think Jacob's rival is the same being who appeared before Ben as his daughter. Locke was surprised to learn that Ben was following him because his daughter told him to.

Jacob's rival shouldn't have been surprised at this if he was involved in both things.

I believe "The Black Smoke" is another entity that is separate from Jacob and his rival.

Ya, the black smoke thing confuses me. Sure, the polar bears were explained. Butt never the smoke. Even Ben was like 'eh, we don't know entirely'. Is the black smoke the MIB dude?

Locke was surprised to learn that Ben was following him because his daughter told him to.
That is a good point. If it was a MIB game, he would know all the players.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Huh. I just realized that the Locke who told Richard to tell Locke that he would have to die was not, in fact , the Locke who died. Nifty.

That's what we've been calling MIB in my house. We're going to be really disappointed when his real name turns out to be Bob.

Frank, I'll leave it, just for you. My keyboard is getting too much dust/crumbs between keys. Stupid old apple clear/white keyboard. I need to pick up a new aluminum one.

Had to look that one up, sorry, not THAT versed in the bible. But came across this in wikipedia:
The Bible depicts Esau as a hunter who prefers the outdoor life, qualities that distinguished him from his brother, who was a shy or simple man, depending on the translation of the Hebrew word "Tam" (which also means "relatively perfect man")
which is curious, as Locke!Esau is very much a hunter. And what does he do when he "returned" to the island, but bring a boar for everyone to eat.
