Lost 2: Tied to a Tree in a Jungle of Mystery
[NAFDA] This is where we talk about the show! Anything that's aired in the US (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though -- if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.
Something I saw in another forum, and have no real idea about its significance because I kinda stopped watching the show, but thought it might be of interest.
The text of the newspaper clipping:
"The body of John Lantham of New York was found shortly after 4 am in the 4300 block of Grand Avenue. Ted Worden, a doorman at the Tower Lofts complex, heard loud noises coming from the victim's loft. Concerned for tenants' safety, he entered the loft and found the body hanging from a beam in the living room. According to Jaime Ortiz, a police spokesman, the incident was deemed a suicide after medical tests. Lantham (sic) is survived by one teenaged son. Memorial services will be held at the Hoffs-Drawlar Funeral Home tomorrow evening."
Whitefonted due to as-noted cluenessness. Should be deleted if it's somehow not something extractable from what was onscreen.
Well, I could see how Jon Lantham could be John Locke's psuedonym. (Although Jeremy Bentham was a name so full of possibilities.)
Is Jon Lantham a philosopher?
Well shit. If Lantham is a castaway - and one we already know, that narrows down the field to perhaps 1 or 2 people.
I've been thinking about it some more, and the flash forwards are pretty vague -- vague enough they can fit characters and events to explain things.
Not if they want to play fair. The newspaper has been identified as one from April 2007.
Dunno if anybody picked up on this, but Ben's X-Rays earlier this season were dated 2005. But they're supposed to be 2004. I'm pretty sure that was a production error.
No idea how involved with Lost JJ still is, but I suspect some of the madder shit comes from him. He loves his WTF moments.
By the way, for those who didn't see it: [link]
Oh, thanks, Kevin. I hadn't seen that, though I'd read about the Numbers on Wikipedia or Lostpedia or whatever. Iiinteresting.
For those who haven't seen
this,
though: Rachel Blake at Comic-Con. I wish we hadn't gotten to San Diego too late and missed the panel, even though I would've been terribly confused and thought she was some deranged fan.
Bwah - yes. I'm surprised so much of the audience seem to get it. There's another Rachel Blake thingy here where she meets the Hanso bloke: [link]
OMG! My sister-in-law was out shopping and saw John Locke buying wine at the Chesapeake Gourmet Deli!!!!
So he
does
get off the Island!
Finally caught up. I have nothing new to say.
HA, I knew it was a flash-forward, except they faked me out a little.
I would sort of like Jack's dad to be alive, because we might get some resolution for whether dead people stay dead on that island.
Poor Charlie. Good death.
Hurley rules all.
Days later. Yes, I finally watched the finale tonight then did the big threadsuck.
I'm lame. I totally didn't get the flash-forward until late in the game.
The Chief of Surgery would know the dead or alive status of the former Chief of Surgery. It seems to me that in this particular line of reality Jack's dad is alive. Jack seems determined that this is not how things should be and Kate seems perfectly fine with life at the moment.
In conclusion: A huge number of doors have opened that allow for a lovely number of options for the remaining seasons.
Dear Lost PTB,
You have an awesome opportunity here to give us some fine quality entertainment for many episodes to come. Do us right, please.
Thank you ever so much for your attention to detail.
All the best,
